Dvorak has a much capfriendly contract, and Montreal doesnt need Valimaki. Also I don't think Toffoli is on the market.

I don't think this does much for MTL. Should just move Toffoli for a haul of futures. Monahan and Välimäki are just not needed in MTL right now.

Monahan has zero value to Montreal. One season where he will underperform and be gone, perhaps recuperating a 3rd(ish) as a deadline rental.

They aren't trading Dvorak after paying a high price without putting him through the paces next season (now with a new coach, as expected/hoped).

Valimaki and a 1st is a reasonable offer for Toffoli, but ultimately doesn't cover a need, so it's on the edge of consideration.

The hockey fit with Toffoli is great. Financially, it doesn't, unless the Flames can get MTL to take on Monahan+ whichever futures.

I think it's likely Tkachuk/Mangiapane/Gaudreau cost 25 million next year, so a player with term only makes sense if you can move out money

Montreal fans think all their players are all the next Gretzky... Toffoli was traded 2 years ago for something like 3 3rd round picks... 2 years older apparently he's worth 2 firsts and a second... I know he's has a couple extra years this contract but seriously the guy is oft injured and not even close to a ppg player...

Jheez I want what ur smoking. Monahan aint been great but his worst seasons are almost equal to dvoraks best seasons. In recent yrs they are practically equal so the cap difference for next season aint worth Dube + a 2nd.
