I think MTL needs to trade as many players as they can and start a full, true rebuild. They're not close to competing, who knows how healthy Price can stay. They don't have the pieces to contend yet. Build around Suzuki and Caufield.

Price stays as long as he wants. I’ve seen a lot of great Habs goalies but all of them had a team. Throughout his career we have failed to put a solid team around Price. It’s been sad to see

He might be referring to the Allen deal? I wouldn't do that - there are better UFA's available every summer, no need to give up a pick. Besides, the Oilers don't need a backup but a starter, unless Smith comes back on fire like he did last February.

The Chiarot deal is pretty reasonable though, I could see Holland doing that. Chiarot isn't great defensively but he'd be a fine 3rd pairing defenseman on a contender.
