Description
The point of the Stanley trade for Johnston is for a forward enforcer thats cheap. IM not ready to move on from Dillon just yet but i do think him/DeMelo would be a good shutdown pairing. Keep Wheeler with the C for now and then give Dubois and Schmidt As. IF Dubois is signed long term its most likely hes captain after Wheeler and Schmidt with an A makes alot of sense with the type of personality he has.

Really like Chycrun but can’t see Arizona trading him within the central. Also, I’d trade Scheifele for a winger instead of a center, so Perfetti can eventually be 2C. (Or 1A 1B with Dubois)

Can't see Arizona being tempted by that at all. Same goes for MINN and VAN.

The Isles and Sens might jump at those offers, though.

With the Arizona trade, if there is good enough pieces they will consider it. Arizona is in rebuild rn and Winnipeg is trying to compete. With Perfetis development even in the AHL he is being trained as a winger and with a Scheifele trade, they need ready now players in return.

Trading Scheifele for a UFA and a 3rd would be terrible asset management, also I assume Van will re-sign Horvat so not sure they'd be interested in that.

Thats not the package Arizona is looking for in a Chycrun trade.

Other than the Stastny trade I don't really like any of these for the Jets, do like the thougt of adding some more guys with a bit of jam and grit to their game, the Jets are too soft.

You're getting a 2# young defender with 6 years left and one of the top NHL defensive prospects in Heinola. If a first has to be added so it then add the 2022 or 2023

Its Jim Rutherford remember that and jets need a masive cultural change, Scheifele has to go.

Morrissey is 1) 26, which is not the brand of "young" they asked for & 2) hasn't approached being worth his salary in three years. And you're also overrating Heinola, though I do personally like him a good bit. Thirty teams would beat that offer if they wanted to.

EXTREMELY ironic that Winnipeg wasn’t willing to include Vesalainen in any deal to bring Mark Stone back home to Winnipeg and now he’s being kick traded out to Ottawa for a 3rd.

From untouchable to mid round pick in only a couple years and it cost you the chance at acquiring one of the best RW in the league.

I don't disagree that they need a massive culture change but trading for a rental is just poor asset management especially when you're trading your 1C, if Horvat has no interest in extending with the Jets which is pretty likely you're just trading him for probably a weaker return then what you could've gotten for Scheifele in an original trade.

Heard it was Roslovic and/or Niku that was what Ottawa wanted, ultimately Stone wasn't signing in Winnipeg and the Jets were going nowhere that year anyway with whoever they acquired at the trade deadline, something was going on in the room that season and Mark Stone wasn't saving that season.

The saddest part may have been trading for Kevin Hayes just to have Maurice use him as a 4C in the playoffs against the Blues... 😆

I remember hearing that Vesalainen was one of the main reasons Ottawa didn’t pursue the trade any more than they did. Regardless, considering how willing Stone was to resign in Ottawa I’m sure he would’ve been more than willing to sign in his hometown as well. Making the contract fit might’ve been difficult but it wouldn’t have been a issue on the players side.

The Hayes trade never made any sense to me lol. Stone wouldn’t have been much more expensive than the cost of Hayes and I promise he would’ve put better numbers up haha

The Jets should have no interest In DeBrusk. Winnipeg already has trouble with their compete level, bringing in an entitled bottom 6 player with a QO that makes him unsignable, it just wasting assets.

The Jets have no reason to sell low on Scheifele if they move him.

No reason to give away Ves and Stanley for low picks or unneeded players.

Absolutely zero reason to overpay for an LD that the Jets don't need.
