Yes. I’m very happy about that. I think this is a wake up call for this team. We need to make moves. 1st move needs to be a goalie. Also I’m starting to root for the sens. I don’t like them. But I’m rooting for them . It’s a great young group of guys. I want them to make the playoffs. That would be great

But who would the caps move as Samsonov has shown signs of becoming a good starter while Vanacek was someone they paid a 2nd to bring back.

So its not a good situation rn as no matter who they move it could come back to bite them

Holtby would bring so much momentum to the team and city. Also would be the number one choice

Yeah, I really love some of the pieces we have (top line Stutzle Chabot Sanderson). I don’t think we’re gonna make the playoffs this year, but hopefully it’s in the cards next year. With a top 10 pick adding a potential top 6 forward, all we need is one of our goalies to hit (Gustavsson and Sogaard look the best, Merilainen and Mandolese are wild cards too) and one of our RD to become top 4 worthy (and both Thomson and JBD look good).

Holtby is definitely not an upgrade on Samsonov/Vanecek though

He is more consistent, gives us a better chance at winning. I’m not saying get rid of both of them.

Holtby started this year hot, and has been mediocre for the last month and a bit. He’s the opposite of consistent, and recent history has shown he’s been overall mediocre more often than not since he won the cup. You’re much better off sticking with Samsonov/Vanecek. I don’t think the Caps will trade for a goalie, and honestly they probably don’t need to. They’re a playoff lock, currently sitting 9th in both GF/G and GA/G. They’ll probably just add a 3rd line forward calibre of player and maybe a depth D.

How do you feel about this

I kind like the sens. I think they've got a birght future. I just hope they don't cause the leafs any trouble in the near future (let's be honest, we're probably going to see a 2023 or 2024 come-from-behind sens win in game 7 of the first round).

Too many moving parts, and you’re getting fleeced in most of those trades. You have a good shot at the cup this year, but only if Holtby catches lightning in a bottle again, which he hasn’t done in 3 years. And your entire future is decimated, turning you into a fringe team until Ovie breaks the goals record, and then falling off a cliff for a few years. Trading Samsonov is a big mistake honestly, and you shouldn’t be getting rid of all your recent and future 1sts for one run.

I’m only good at keeping one future. I’m just trying to stay competitive now. The future is only ruined for two years then we can get prospects in 2024. I understand. I need to work on it

Yep, there’s a reason Holtby was bought out by the Nucks and, Samsonov/Vanecek is a good tandem to build around
