Might be fair but the Wild need to bet on having Rossi-Eriksson Ek as their top 2 center going forward
They have planty of winger they could move for a center

Rossi wasn't moving for Eichel. I doubt he'd be traded for Miller, either. Rossi is that promising.

Nice effort but it’ll always be wasted on Minny homer fans. FYI all they’re players are untouchables if you haven’t noticed lol

Top 10 scorers grow on trees & Minny being a contending juggernaut cannot live with Miller on the cheap

Not with the buyout cap hits the next 3 years, those eliminate their ability to trade an elc for a contract. As it is they need to shed players before next season not accumulate a new one, not matter how good he is.

If you think a team about to have nearly 14M in dead cap with a need at center, especially in the future, is going to part with their best prospect and planned fix to that situation for 1.5 seasons of a guy better suited to play on the wing?

I'm not saying the value is miles apart by any means, but just because there's value there, doesn't mean you make the move. It's the same reason the Sharks and their fans would most likely pass on a Fiala-Hertl trade. Value is there for the most part but there isn't a ton of desire to make that deal

The Wild are fine where they are and should absolutely be fine with where they could be, without making a blockbuster deal like this

i get that but this is the year to go for it before 3 years of hell i guess?

what would you think of JT miller 50% retained to Wild for a 1st round pick, a B prospect like adam beckman (and a written agreement to trade kevin fiala for future considerations basically nothing in the off season)

Miller makes half of what Eichel makes though and is actually on the ice. That is a big consideration in a cap world.

That actually isn't a consideration. Teams look for franchise players like eichel and That he's a full time c with long term contract, and unless a championship team like Tampa, only Tampa takes risk of trading for players like jt who will ask for enormous money in next contract

Retaining & it’s closer to a 1/4 of JE. If that’s not interesting then nothing is for many years.

Bad contracts & buyouts goes on both regimes.

Canucks fans have got to be the worst fans on the internet when it comes to discussing trades with. Worse than the Leafs fans.

And he is signed for 3 years less. Miller is in no way superior to Eichel...

In all honesty, I wouldn't trade Fiala straight up for Miller. So giving up a 1st and Beckman who I like a lot. It's not that I think Fiala is the better player, it's just that I would rather stay put. And if the Wild were gonna make a big move at the deadline, I'd want them to go for Tomas Hertl.

Personally, I think trusting the process is thebright move. Trade Greener in the offseason and retain your talent. Let the young guys come up. I think that could be enough navigating of the cap to hold you through the dark years of the Parise/Suter buyouts.

I think mortgaging the future for a single playoff run would be very ill-advised

Not the point I was making though. Eichel is a superior player but value of contract on Miller is much better. It's one the Wild might be able to actually take on (albeit unlikely) taking on 10 mil for any team is a challenge. Taking on 2.6 and getting Miller is what I'm highlighting.
