Just makes no sense to keep Trouba when 2C is a more important need and you’re loaded with D prospects. This is probably the only place Trouba waives to since it’s still close to where he wants to be .

NJ is another place close to NYC that could be a place he could potentially agree to.

the fact that fans from both teams think it’s bad makes me think it’s honestly pretty solid. fans tend to overrate their own players as compared to others.

I could see that with Severson struggling . Rangers need to switch Trouba’s cap hit with Hertl somehow and then bring up one of their ELC players on D. That’s what I would do for next year

The Isles dont exactly have a ton of cap space. Trouba would add 2m to their cap, plus another 8m+ that Hertl would cost. Leaving not much to roster 3 more defensemen.

1. This trade is a NON-starter cause Trouba will not waive his NMC to go to the Islanders, unless he thinks theyre a better contender and RIGHT NOW, they arent.
2. It is very unlikely that either team sees this as a fair trade.
3. THE RANGERS and ISLANDERS never trade, even when it makes way more sense then this one ever will.
4. I agreed moving the extra 2 million per year and extra year of contract would be nice.

That Nelson/Trouba swap is an interesting idea, Isles would have to be pretty sure they could add a 2C some other way if they were to make that swap, also if they added Trouba what happens to Dobson and/or Mayfield?

They bridge Dobson and roll 3 pairings . Add Hertl and Reilly Smith. Trade Bailey and Varlamov. Sign a cheap backup

Fact is the Islanders need Nelson more than Trouba, and a 1 for 1 trade is worse for the Islanders no matter how you spin it
