What Areas Do They Need To Address At This Point

Description
After a horrendous start, it seems that the boys are back on track. Not only have they been winning games with the top forwards leading the way, the team has played really dominantly at 5v5, they give up very few scoring chances and everyone on the team is committed to the defensive structure demanded by the coach. I don’t think anyone ever doubted the ability of this group, it was only a question of whether they could overcome the psychological burdens. It’s good to see that they’re bouncing back, hopefully it continues.

At this point, I think it’s fair to start wondering what roster components the Leafs need to address in order to achieve playoff success? What are the team’s weaknesses? Feel free to share your thoughts, I will give mine below:
Transactions
1.
TOR
  1. Strome, Dylan
Détails additionnels:
*Ritchie has enough talent to make some plays with the puck on his stick but he is just so lazy. Never battles for pucks or drives to the net. For a cap-strapped team like TOR, they'd be better off spending the money on someone who can provide some depth at center.
2.
TOR
  1. Galchenyuk, Alex
  2. Gostisbehere, Shayne (1 500 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
*Leafs need an upgrade at 2RD. Holl is not capable and Dermott flopped when he played alongside Rielly. IDK why they haven't tried Dermott with Muzzin, but they need to make this work.
3.
4.
NYR
*What would he cost? I watch the way the Rangers are using him and I can't help but think he'd thrive in Toronto. He'd have more opportunity to be the primary forechecker and net driver, plus use his puck skills in transition. Plus under a good player development like Keefe, he should be able to thrive. To acquire him, no prospect is off limits from our system.

Rather have Strome. Even if he doesn’t figure it out, his contract is up after this season.

Man this guy is obsessed with the thought that Ritchie will have value in a trade and that Lafreniere is even an option.

Both of these are not happening, please stop making posts about it

Not saying Ritchie is the guy to be moved for Strome, but you're HIGHLY overvaluing Strome if you think he gets anywhere near a 1st and a 3rd plus a player in return. He won't even get a 1st.

& don't claim that Ritchie is a negative value if that's going to be you're next point. Yea he's not that good but at a contract of only $2.5M for this year and next, that's not enough to be considered a negative value enough to have to have a 1st dealt with him to be moved.

Can’t see us letting him go for anything short of a ridiculous overpay. He is expected to be another Huberdeau or better once he hits his prime. He is much stronger on the puck than last year and needs a few more years to develop into an elite player. No one is untouchable but he wouldn’t be moved for a “fair” package.

Explain to me why Ritchie doesn’t have value but Strome does? Is it cuz one plays for the Leafs?

I don’t think the Leafs want to spend too much assets this season. If Gostisbehere and Strome work out which they should, that’s all the pieces that we need.

Thanks for the feedback. Since Lafreniere is still unproven, I don’t think he can fetch a core roster player but he could fetch some good prospects.

    Well let's see.
Strome and Ritchie almost have the same amount of points but Strome has over 150 less games played.
Toronto is looking for someone who can provide some potential in the top-6 which Strome looks like he is able to and as many Leaf's fans have seen, Ritchie may not.
Chicago doesn't need a player like Ritchie or a player who is an expiring UFA.
And you just said how lazy Ritchie was. Why would Chicago pull this off?

And, please tell me why you think Lafreniere, a #1 overall pick that hasn't even come close to playing 100 games and has played exactly 1 full season, is falling out of favor with the Rangers to the point where he is for sale?

That’s fine, since he can’t fetch that type of package today, he won’t moved either

The Rangers are developing Lafreniere to be a grinder. They won’t let him carry the puck in transition or hold onto it in the offensive zone. Always just chip it into corner to chase.

I don’t see the benefit for the Rangers to keep Lafreniere and keep using him this way. They just don’t seem to have much confidence in his ability.

The former coach who was fired, didn't like Strome and had him on the bench or when he played him, had him on the 4th line which is a terrible misuse. Now he's playing 3rd line center and on the PP the last 3 games and looked good including a goal last night. Strome is hands down more valuable then Ritchie. Just being a year younger, a center, and a RFA makes him more valuable alone. Not rocket science.

He’s on the 3rd line and 2nd PP. he has also had multiple chances on the top line. Your making up things in your head bro. They have plenty of confidence in him but he is also not at Crosby type level yet. He hasn’t even played 82 professional games yet 🤣.

If your not gonna give Laf a top 6 role then there’s no point to trade for him because Kerfoot ain’t it
