Description
I've followed Dylan Strome since his junior days and I am a fan of him cuz he is from my area. He is a very interesting case study. He dominated the AHL but couldn't figure it out in Arizona despite achieving very good underlying numbers. In Chicago, he had 2 productive seasons before falling off the grid again.

I think Strome is a very good offensive talent. He's got good hands, passing and a decent shot. However, he has a lot of limitations. His biggest weakness is carrying the puck in transition due to his slow speed. He needs to play alongside a winger who can do the transition for him as well as start the forecheck sequence. I believe in the right circumstance, he can project to be a better version of Sean Monahan. Right now, the biggest thing for him is to get an opportunity to play.

All good options. We'll start the bidding at a 2022 2nd round pick. Any takers?

I think that should be a no brainer for analytics GM like Dubas.

I'd say he could do well in either Minnesota, Columbus.

Minnesota really needs another top six capable centre. Their current depth beyond JEE is worrying and Rossi needs time.

Very annoyed at Colliton for his usage. He looked very good with guys like Hagel and Kurashev beside him (faster guys who arent necessarily the most skilled but can retrieve the puck). These are the types of guys he has typically thrived with on the hawks along with hangin out on a power play. Realistically, if he had been used properly, I would expect him to have like 2 goals and 3 assists at this point. Colliton really tankin his value. At this point I think we arent gonna get a good enough piece back to justify trading him unless we are actually just tearing it down and tanking

Idk he'd thrive in a 2c role with skilled wingers. On pit he'd either end up a 3c or on the wing. Hawks have tried him at both those spots and it hasn't worked out

I can’t see how he fits on the Rangers. There’s already too many wingers and I can’t see him beating out any of our current centers.

Minnisota, Ottawa, Columbus, Vegas

Would probs be the best as he would get top 6 on all of them

(If Vegas still resists an Eichel trade Strome wont cost as much and should be a good top 6 add)

If this team is serious about competing this year, I think they need to get a real skill guy on Fiala’s line. Strome fits that bill.

Strome and the Hawks are in a very precarious position. If he moves now, I don’t think anybody ponies up more than a 3rd. At the deadline he could absolutely get something akin to what Bennett got. But that’s only if he plays, and that’s the catch 22 right now. Just hard to see the Hawks getting full value.

Yeah but wouldn't wanna mess with the great team chemistry by playing him every night. Smh

soon as you said a winger that could start the forecheck i thought of bostons 2nd line and i do think they should take the shot on it for maybe 2nd and half retained

Agree I think Kaprizov or Fiala could benefit from having a center with pedigree.

On PIT he can play with Heinen & Carter. Both have good finishing ability plus Heinen can forecheck & transition.

I guess they can play him with Strome & Panarin, move Ryan to RW. Roll a fourth line of Goodrow-Rooney-Reaves?

Thanks for the insight. Yeah I definitely think Strome would do well with fast aggressive wingers on his line, ideally with some skill as well to finish his plays. But I don’t think he can stay in CHI as long as Colliton is the coach.

Um strome is a center lul

Because Chicago has to many centers he is forced to play LW which which he can also do.

Put him between Pacioretty and Stone and he would probs do well

Yeah that’s what I meant, he’d be quite productive around elite wingers.

Yeah but that leaves one of Laf or Kakko on the third line which isn’t great cause Gallant isn’t moving Kreider there.

Kakko is playing well, I think he can stay in the top 6. Lafreniere stinks, he needs more time to develop.
