Athanasiou had a falling out with management in Detroit and never saw eye to eye with Blashill, zero chance they bring him back.

I'm wondering where the scoring is coming from in this lineup. Fiala (though I don't think you get Fiala with that trade) is the only serious goal scorer, the rest of the team is full of playmakers. It needs shooters. Kaliyev and Byfield will be goal scorers in the future, but I wouldn't expect it in their first year.

The 3rd line is going to be good (future 1st line?), but it's played a combined 64 games in their careers, so sticking them together is a huge risk.

Gotcha - I thought he was well-liked by fans there
Didn't know about the falling out with management.

1st round exit likely, maybe 2nd round. Relyi g on a lot of bounce backs and major rookie years to make a splash.

Me neither, I know he got his fair share of crap near the end of his tenure for not producing to his standards, but he was generally loved by fans and teammates. The only "falling out" I know of is the contract dispute a while back, but it looked like the reason he was traded was for rebuilding purposes, not drama.

Fair point. Will need to spread it around

25-30 goals: Fiala
20-25 goals: Iafallo, Kopitar
15-20 goals: Arvidsson, Kaliyev, Vilardi, Moore
10-15 goals: Brown, Tkachev, Danault, Byfield

I don’t think it’s a terrible offer, but it’s not enough for Fiala IMO. He’s been on a tear the last 2 seasons with 94 pts in 114 games, and that’s while being stuck with borderline NHL guys.

You basically cover the bases from an ask standpoint, but Im not terribly high on Kupari. If you wanna swap him for a 1st, it’s a different conversation.

It was a falling out with Management due to his lack of defense. He is one dimensional. It is a break away or nothing. Great skater and finisher one one on one or a breakaway but he was not a 5 on guy. Nothing against the guy, very dynamic but no defense and Yzerman likes guys to be 2 way players and AA is not that.

Easy no from Toronto. Start with Vilardi (assuming Rielly comes with an extension)

I am assuming Rielly is not extended and leaves for UFA in a year. Which is probably more likely.

Minnesota says no. Are you just going to make bad faith proposals for wild players everytime? Bunch of nothing for Kevin fiala

I don't think that's enough for Fiala and I don't think that we're interested in Rielly.

It looks to me that except for unloading extras, our roster is set for the season, depending upon who makes the team out of training camp. I think that Byfield and Kaliyev (and perhaps Turcotte) start the year in Ontario.

I never understood this. Why the difference in price between extension or no extension? In order to negotiate one, Toronto would have to give LA permission to discuss an extension prior to approving the trade, which they're not going to do. If they did, Blake could just say "Hey, we're willing to offer you $X for # years this summer, come sign with us then." and walk away from the trade. LA isn't one Morgan Rielly away from being a Stanley Cup contender, so there's no hurry to bring him in this season.

If LA is trading for Rielly, they're only going to pay a rental price. If Toronto wants any more than that, the Kings will just wait until next July and make him an offer as a UFA.
