No it isn’t. BUF is trading arguably the best player they have ever had for what a bunch of quantity? There isn’t a single piece in that trade that has elite potential. Non top 10 1st rd picks, no 1st line players, just a bunch of filler. Why would BUF say yes to this?

CBJ don’t want Drouin. And if he’s waiving his NTC, I doubt it’s going to be so he can go to CBJ.

You don’t know what are top 10 till the lottery. Both Montreal and Carolina have the potential to miss the playoffs.

Kapanen has looked great. Maybe better than his brother. Poehling still has potential.

Rebuilding teams aren’t giving you first round picks for Eichel. Montreal might be your best shot at a high first round pick.

Ah that makes more sense, I didn't see it there. I guess the value is a bit better then, still dont think its enough to convince them to send him in division though

lol that’s funny. Eichel is a 24 yr old elite C under contract for 5 more years. If his neck is an issue you don’t trade for him. But 24 yr old elite 1C garner far more quality than that craptastic package. Kapanen was a 2nd rder in a weak draft, literally hanging your hat on MTL and CAR picks end up being in the lottery is the epitome of desperate. Drouin right now zero value until he plays again. Poehling is what 4 yrs removed from his draft class and has more notoriety for his politics than his play. Ylonen at the point is just a guy, I don’t think he is even waiver exempt. I’m not even a fan of either team and I think it’s a joke.

So you know very little about Kapanen from what I gather here. He actually looks like a very decent prospect. Very impressive at the summer showcase.

Poehling like I said still has potential.

Sabres are not getting lottery picks for Eichel. It’s just silly to think that teams like ottawa Detroit or Arizona are giving up 1sts for Eichel. It will be teams that want to contend.

Maybe they switch ylonen with a different prospect that the sabres line. Two firsts two 2nds and a 3rd is pretty good draft capital. No one is saying the sabres have to take it but it certainly isn’t crap.

I feel like if an Eichel trade was such a no-doubt slam dunk of a deal, it would have been done by now.

Be it the cap hit, the injury questions, a ridiculously high ask, or something else, something has kept, and will continue to keep, teams away.

I agree totally with everything except the ask. His injury is a big deal, the flat cap is a big deal with his salary, but he is a top 10 talent in the league signed for 5 more years. When was the last time a top 10 player was traded? It’s a very odd situation.
