Sorry guys, I'm feeling pretty fatalistic that we're not going to be able to sign KK or Fiala this off-season.

"The worst seats in the house"podcast July 30 at 57 minutes. (Paraphrasing Russo here) "KK has turned down 9M for 5 or 6 years. So I'd say don't sign him to a 3 year deal and just leave him in Russia if that's how he and his agent are going to play it. Braden Point signed a deal like that. KK is not going to get more than that."

If that's the case, let's just punt the whole team. If KK won't take 9mx5... Then how will we ever sign him. And if that's what he's worth, what is fair value on Fiala?!

I didn't check the NYR or BOS cap hits, so I don't know if they can even manage this, but those seemed like likely partners for these trades.

Yeah that makes sense.

I figure KK wants the bright lights and the big city. Fiala has a hard working style that would fit well in Boston.

If this truly is the case, which I still doubt for Kaprizov given the amount of money on the table, then you sign him for 3 years as cheap as possible and then you ransack a team entering its cup window. Just imagine what a team would give up for 3 years of Kap at 5 or 6 mil.

Fiala really looks like he’s on the way out though. A 1st and a good prospect (similar to the Reinhart deal) would be good. But if you want to move either, you have to do it fast.

And even on top of that, I don’t think those guys actually change the outlook that much. That part is just MHO.

Trade actually makes more sense for the team since neither player will be in their prime when the Wild’s cup window actually opens.

TOR had something to build around. MN doesn't and is playing has so much future dead cap.
