I’m just gonna jump in to say Rask goes back with any trade for a C. At 4 mil, the other team will be taking less cap back and it’s a one year deal. It’s the same as when Galch was included in the Zucker deal.

But as for Menell, why not include him as an asset for a C?

I’ve cooled a bit on Dylan and warmed a bit on Ryan. But I’d entertain that for both, I don’t think Menell is going to sign with the Wild but he is probably better than a lot of 3rd pair guys.

The conversation for Hertl starts with Boldy or Rossi. Nothing else will be considered.

I don’t think Minnesota is willing to even talk to San Jose if they are asking for a Blue chip prospect in return for a one year rental in Hertl.

I want a Ferrari but I’m not getting one. We’re talking about a one year rental here. As good as Hertl is, he’s looking at 1st and maybe a little throw in or a 2nd and a young NHLer. You aren’t getting top caliber prospect. This is what a rental gets.

Given where you guys are at, it wouldn’t be surprising to move all 3. If Hertl really wants to stay through the rebuild, sign him. Otherwise they could get some good futures now, but the idea that you’re trading an extension for him doesn’t really have a base.

I’m also not trying to hate on you for wanting a damn near ready top 6 guy, but it doesn’t really enter the convo in this situation.

It’s about term. I asked to not respond with “well you aren’t getting him” because it doesn’t add anything. If you say, “that’s not enough for them to lose his play”, or “I think we could get more at the deadline” or “we want to resign him” those all add some thing.

Maybe you think Hertl is better than Reinhart and his one year left is worth more than a 1st and a B prospect. But the thing is the market wouldn’t for contract reasons.
