Overpay marner by 1m and it’s 10% overpay Coleman by 1m and it’s 20%. When your bottom 6 is overpaid you run into serious trouble.

Yes because overpaying your post season no shows has worked out so well. Coleman is a monster in the playoffs and that contract is fair

Coleman is 0.5pts/game in the playoffs. Everyone loves him because he's effective and cheap, but once he isn't cheap anymore, the narrative will change. Same with Hyman.

0.5 point with 0 powerplay time, everyone loves him because of the style he plays not the price, otherwise Gourde would also not be loved so much

Overpay a guy who DOESNT have a history with knee injuries, is better defensively and offensively than Hyman, turns it up in the playoffs, and is about a 55-60 point guy with limited PP time, ya i'll take it. Unfortunately that's how free agency works.

honestly i would be worried about paying him too but the Leafs NEED another goalie badly because i highly doubt Campbell is as good as he was this season. Driedger is the youngest one there so it made the most sense.

And if we're being honest - its pretty much impossible to predict a goalies future success for years to come. That being said, it is also up to the Leafs team defence to make Driedger look good (similar to what they did with Campbell, just to a lesser extent)

yes he is. For 5 seasons it's an insane overpay considering he hadn't accomplished anything before signing this contract, and it's only got worse, considering it's been 12 games that he's been bad in during the playoffs

His effort level in the playoffs has been very subpar for quite some time now, so no he wasn't «unlucky». Good teams/players create their own luck.
