Yup, 100% they will, Hyman is a good player and important to the Leafs but the second he signs for anything over 4M (imo) he is negative value to the team. The most valuable part of Hymans game is how cheap his last deal was, I wouldnt pay him over 4.5M, Leafs should go sign Coleman or Goodrow at that point, players like that arent worth north of 5

Yeah, Coleman or Goodrow would be great with the leafs. They also add grit. I'm not supposed to be saying good things about the lightning right now since we're playing them, but I really like the gritty scoring style those two have.

If he goes the FA route there will be a team that gives him north of 5. That's just nuts

I even like a possible addition of Viktor Arvidsson. He's injury history worries but signed at a nice cap(4.25) hit for three more years

thats a pretty weak and old roster above, and that 3rd pairing is very young.

Depends what you think this years team problem was.

I think it was very weak depth on 6-13th forwards and the lineup above is worse

You don't pay a guy like Hyman $5+ mil a year for the unique qualities that he brings to the roster. You find the next Hyman. Very solid player, and definitely deserving to get paid (by someone), but handcuffing yourself to him because of "Heart and grit!!!" when there's more pressing issues on this roster seems like p1ss poor management. Again, he's skilled, but when someone breaks the bank on him, they'll regret it in 2-3 years.
