Eichel doesn’t happen for LA without at least Turcotte more likely Byfield, because they have so many C prospects it’s just makes sense one of the premium ones would have to go the other way.

Good thing you threw that 5th in there. Without it the trade was totally not fair.

However, Anderson won't be traded, not even for Eichel.

Byfield is not going anywhere, realistically Eichel is playing for Los Angeles or New York next year as those are the only teams that have the assets and the cap space to make it happen. I just think the buyers will have the upperhand here and the deal is going to be underwhelming, something similar to what the Sens got for Karlsson.

Then the Sabres won't move him. Believe me Adams is definitely the type of guy that would dig his heels in and tell Jack if he wants to be moved he is going to have to show up and perform until he gets an offer of proper value just like Sakic did with Duchene when he wanted out of Colorado

A defenseman is not going to be the key to getting Eichel...a top center prospect is the starter to a trade.

If I’m LA I don’t try to trade for Eichel, it literally ties up 38% of the cap on 3 players. Conversely if I’m BUF I figure out how the hell you’ve messed it up so bad when you have a foundation of Eichel, Dahlin and Reinhart.

I agree with that, if i'm Buffalo I accept that current core didn't work though and dont look for a band-aid answer for something that needs surgery. The next 2 drafts are quite strong to tank for, you dont want to prevent that by bringing in a short term star player that will leave in a few years and prevent you from bottoming out at the same time

I agree. I think where BUF has made its mistakes, beside an obvious culture issue, is over estimating in the past where they were and how close they were by handling out bad contracts to guys that weren’t difference makers, looking right at Skinner and his ridiculous contract which was ridiculous the minute they offered it.

the Skinner contract seemed like a panic move to me, I think they had to overpay him or he was walking. Other things included betting on Mittlestadt way to early not bringing in any veteran D to mentor Risto

Don’t know much about Anderson but what’s so special about him. From what I see he isn’t a A level prospect and why wouldn’t you have him in a deal with eichel?

Anderson is a solid defense-first guy that is touted for his leadership abilities. Mattias Norstrom is a good comparison. Carried his college team to two consecutive NCAA championships in both years that he played there. Outspoken leader in the locker room, and stepped in and did well played 1st pairing minutes with Drew Doughty as a rookie, leading all rookies in TOI. Doughty raves about the kid. Given the Kings current shortage at LHD, neither he nor Bjornfot will be included in a trade, as they are a significant part of this team's future.

Here's a quote from Doughty's exit interview this season:

Quoting: Doughty
When asked if he’d like someone brought in as a partner, Doughty quickly rejected that idea. He noted that he has loved playing with Mikey Anderson this season and feels that he and Anderson have made a great pairing. He went on to add that he doesn’t even feel that the defense necessarily needs any additions, stating that he likes the makeup of that unit when everyone was together and healthy.

“I don’t want someone, I like playing with Mikey Anderson, I love playing with Mikey Anderson. We’ve developed quite the partnership. I don’t think you need to bring anyone in to play with me, I don’t think you necessarily need to bring anyone in on defense, I think our defense is solid. I like our young guys, I like our middle of the pack, veteran guys. Obviously, we have to bring guys in, that’s not my job to make that decision, you guys can ask Blakey that.”

Doughty went on to complement Anderson both as a player and a partner, but also as a younger guy who was confident enough to speak his mind in the locker room. On a team where Anderson is amongst the youngest players, Doughty called him one of the most vocal individuals on the team already, and that says volumes about Anderson’s character at a young age.

“The one thing with Mikey is this guy is already talking in our dressing room, at intermissions and stuff like that. He’s already one of the more vocal, probably one of the top three most vocal guys on our team already. To say that about a guy like that, it’s basically unheard of. Mikey is a great pro already, he’s many years above what his age actually is.”

Doughty believes that he and Anderson clicked as a pairing, almost right away, and made it clear who his preferred partner is moving forward.
