Zibanejad has been *really* bad as of late. Lindgren has never been good. Hertl is amazing and Balcers too. I'm actually fleecing the Sharks pretty hard here. But it's hard to see when you're blinded by point totals. Everything good you ascribe to Zibanejad and Lindgren, I just ascribe to their teammates instead. I think Fox is probably the best defenseman in the league, dragging Ryan around the ice. Buchnevich has literally turned into an elite forward, while Zib has declined into oblivion. I'd make the moves before it's too late.

Anyways, who on the Sharks is really, really good then? Cause we agree their defense is pretty terrible, their goal tending atrocious, especially compared to the rangers, so why are the Sharks not that much worse?

My answer is: Hertl is amazing but dragged down by his team.

Again, my answer: Zibanejad was one of the worst players in the league this year. Lindgren only looked good cause he played with Fox, whom he dragged down. And I didn't just decide this, obviously, I used numbers to draw this conclusion.

My problem is no one will ever give me an alternative solution. If Team X is Y points good, what are the components dragging them down, and what are the components making them good?

So, in conclusion: I would never accept this trade as the Sharks.

I see the logic and the understanding. The problem is the sharks are making Hertl the face of their franchise over players like Karlson and Couture. I see them only trading him if the are unable to extend him and only if they get a great return!
This is fair to a slight underpayment and if they got desperate.... maybe. But I doubt it.
