I think Jets fans undersold what Nurse was last year (tbh who didn't) but I still don't think Nurse's emergence this year is quite enough to get Ehlers.

That and Edmonton just got the top-pairing defender it always wanted. Both sides say no to this nowadays.

Jets should never trade Ehlers for anything less then a kings ransom, he's their best player, also their most entertaining player.

Even with a reasonable cost extension Nurse doesn't touch Ehlers in value. With Nurse only having one year left, it's not even worth discussing.

There were more questions about Nurse's ability than anything. He was an RFA last season so nice try with the gaslighting.

I think both players are having career years because they play the same teams 6 teams ten times. D have more value then wingers. NEs contract is pretty good but he's over rated because of how much and how highly Jets fans talk about him. I think both teams say no. Nurse is an above average top 4 D, you don't trade those D away unless the return is unreal. The Jets management is probably banking on Ehlers not having hit his prime yet, however I think he's probably hit his ceiling in Winnipeg. If he was playing with McD or Drai he would probably get over a point per game every year. Either way both day no.

Its hardly gaslighting, reality is Ehlers was signed long term and even if Nurse was an RFA at the time of this proposed swap there's no guarantee he'd signed with the Jets long term, sorry but Winnipeg can't take that risk and lose years of term.
Some may have questioned Nurse' ability but that wouldn't of been me.

Jets fans talk highly of Ehlers cause he's been their best player for two years now, if anything he's underrated. He's one point shy of a ppg this year playing a lot of time with 3rd line level talent and he's not on the 1st powerplay unit.

Your point about these guys playing the same teams applies to every player in the league though the Canadian division is weak, about the same as two other divisions though, only the East division was better then the other three.

Oh absolutely, I agree with that, I think this season will be McDavids best in terms on PPG, as an example. I think Ehlers is good but he's not among the leagues best imo. Nurse is the Oilers best D. Winnipeg would have to trade one of Connor, Ehlers, Mark to get a top D from a team that's not rebuilding. That's why I think both teams say no. Just not good trade partners.
