He looked extremely promising when he was in his teens and early twenties, but he was never a great player. The hype was always framed as "he's a little raw now, but he's got so much upside", but as time went on he got worse and worse as his role expanded. He was never anything even close to Elite. He wasn't even close to being good.

Just have more patience, he’s working well with McDavid! 90 shots on net in 41 games, 9 goals... that’s pretty good for a guy that just came from Finland to play straight in the NHL.
