Avs have enough wingers imo. This creates an even bigger log jam at the position next season and probably means Saad would leave as a UFA. Id much rather keep the assets and have Saad than go get Mantha

I wouldn't do this if I was the Avs. The biggest need would be in net or at C if anything. Newhook is going to be so good. I'd look at trading a different prospect if I was the Avs.

100% agree. They shouldn't even consider including Newhook in any trade unless it's a youngish C coming back. Neither LW or RW is a need. Might be a nice to have, but you don't trade Newhook for a nice to have.

Since you have nothing to add, looks like you agree with me that trading a top prospects in the entire nhl and high value draft picks for inconsistent and or injury prone players who produce at a 2nd line level due to those issues would be one of the worst trades a franchise could make

How's Erik Johnson+Colorado's 2nd round pick for Mantha a fair deal? First off Johnson is a $6 million cap dump he's RD which is a position that we're strong at he's 32 years old so the wrong side for our rebuild, And secondly i doubt Detroit's even on Johnson's trade list this is horrendous for Detroit. I agree Newhook being in the deal isn't happening but Johnson and a late 2nd round pick is purely for Mantha.

There is something you're missing here, and its what 99% of people miss here on this site....context. It's not just about "vAluE"

Avs are in win-now mode. They are a cup contender. Despite what you might think, the rest of the league knows that Mantha is, in fact, a stud and elite winger on a really bad team. If the Avs feel like Mantha is the guy they want, they will be willing to overpay, and this is very similar to what a trade would actually look like. Newhook is a top prospect, but in the end he is just a prospect. Mantha is not. Avs know that, and you have to take that into consideration when considering a deal like this. Why would the Avs NOT be willing to part ways with a PROSPECT when they can acquire a piece they feel would allow them the win the Cup NOW?

I won't even touch upon how misinformed you are regarding Mantha and his "injury prone" career. That is all.
