Description
Congrats on Ovi tying Espo at 717! The countdown continues....

Let's keep these winning ways going against Trotz and the Isles. I still wish Trotz was our coach. It seems as if Lavs system is similar and I'm intrigued if our neutral zone defense can continue it's dominance against more skilled teams.

Here's a couple trades and moves based on our success without Eller and Wilson. BY NO MEANS do I think we really should do anything. Just showing what returns and roster might look like. Ya know...for fun...like this site is meant for. *Cough cough*

Afternote - As I said before...I DO NOT think the Caps should do anything...BUT...this was a fun one to do. The leadership and depth this roster provides fits perfectly into the style of play the Caps seem to want to play this year.

I doubt the Caps would give up Tom Wilson, but if that were the asking price the Sabres would be stupid to say no.

Lol. It's like everything has to be spot on. Has ANYONE on this site ever been spot on. OMG Dude, there is second round pick in the trade and THE BEST 3rd line center in the league. Perfect for a rebuilding team, especially when that center isn't over the hill AND under contract for a few years at a GREAT price.

You both know both these trades are within forgiveness range of value for all teams.

Not to mention my opening dialogue. This site is AMAZING sometimes.

The sabres should take this. I think tom wilson would be the third most popular sabre in the last 10 years. Seriously.

I don't think trading Wilson to another team in your division is very smart. I also don't think Namestnikov gets traded. That being said I do think this trade is pretty even value wise.

As a Sabres fan, I’d do this in a heartbeat-
we really need to get tougher.

I’d bet Wilson won’t waive to come here though

These trades are really far off. All these sabres fans saying they'd take it in a heartbeat is because the trade is really uneven. Swap out Sheahan with Mittelstadt if you want Wilson and a second.

I also really don't like the Detroit trade. Eller is worth more to us than he will be to any other team, so there's really no trade that'll work for the caps if Eller is involved (most likely).

Eller and Wilson aren't going anywhere. Neither of these trades make the Capitals better and neither make sense. I could see a trade with Buffalo involving Orlov. Caps are deep on LHD prospects and Orlov is the highest paid LHD on the roster.

Did ya read the team explanation? Absolutely agreed, but your comment is null and void considering the point of my post.

No...these trades are not really far off. But ok. Wilson's value is so low based on discipline issues(not talent). Love the guy, but if the Caps ever needed to trade him it would be hard. Also, Eller is a 3rd line center...the best, but still a third liner. Luke's intangibles are equal or greater than Eller's, add in Name and the Caps would have to do more. wink
And yet again for the back of the bus...READ THE DAMN EXPAINATION!!!

EDIT - this was for Brady

I read the explanation. These trades are still terrible. Caps won’t trade Wilson if that’s what his value is. High end top 6 forward who can play physical, play PP and PK and put up 20 goals easy in an 82 game season. Terrible trade.

FYI - Never have liked you Brady...your overvaluing of Caps players has always been disgusting. (See Burakovsky and Mojo). As a Caps fan since 1990 I politely ask you to find another team. wink

Obviously kidding...but seriously dude...get a grip on reality. Stats aren't everything. If Nate Schmidt can get traded to Vancouver for as little as he did, this is at least a plausible trade. Definitely not terrible. And the end result looks pretty darn good considering the depth for playoff hockey.

Trade a young scoring physical top 6 winger on a great contract who can play special teams and score at an elite level for a fourth liner and a 3C on an expiring contract. Keep gate-keeping and acting like your word is as good as god’s because you’ve been a fan for 30 years. Congrats. Get a grip.

And attack me for posts that you probably had to go back through 4 years of armchair GM teams that you disagree with now with 4 years of hindsight? Get over yourself.

So instead of just saying the trades are horrible...give what you think would be "fair" trades IN THIS SCENARIO. Don't say "the Caps wouldn't trade...", GIVE counter offers. The culture on this site of just saying things are rubbish is absolute BS!!! Just a bunch of lazy idiots getting off on disagreeing with people. NONE of us are actual GMs, if we were we wouldn't waste our time on this site. Each post should be treated within the circumstances given and it would be a much better experience on here if people would stop being trolls with no productive dialogue...AND YES...it does matter if it's just for fun. wink

Sorry, but regardless of his reputation Tom Wilson would be a welcome addition to every team in the NHL and Eller is one of the best 3rd line centers in the league. I can't see a scenario where either are traded, certainly not the proposals in the opening post. No point in counter offering on unrealistic scenarios that don't make the team better.
