Would Marc Bergevin save his job if this happened

Description
I've already heard from the Sabres fanbase.

Now, I'd like to hear from the Habs fanbase about what they think of this trade.

But, if the Sabres' fanbase want to come on here and complain about this post ...

Then, oh well! What can you do? :)

With this trade, do the Habs stop themselves from going into free fall?

Does Marc Bergevin save his job if this trade happened?

Let me know in the comments below :D

P.S.

If both fanbases are complaining about this trade (the Sabres fanbase has already), then it's probably fair :D

If Eichel gets traded which it’s pretty slim right now, it will most likely be out west. Especially not to a inner division team he dominates every Atlantic team.

Suzuki is a good start to this. I just do not see Weber who is 35 is a need for Buffalo. Guhle is good but again Buffalo has lots of D prospects. For Buffalo to even consider it would have to be Suzuki, Drouin/Toffoli, Caufield, and probably 2 first round picks.

There are 2 pieces too many there. Suzuki, Caufield and 1 first rounder. But then there would be cap implications, so...really what's the point?

Not happening
Nothing Bergevin can do
Weber contract isn’t bad because he’ll make 1M in salary the last 3 years and 3M the year before. So he could retired or MTL could trade him to a poor team who needs to reach the cap floor

from what I heard if Eichel gets moved the kings have the best package for him and makes sense as they have a very good prospect pool and can move a 1st or two.

Yeah LA and Vegas has enough. I think the Kings should do their rebuild properly and not rush things though.

I feel
Your right and I’m terrified of who is in the best possible shape to pull this trade off!!!!
LA Kings for two top prospects a first and a 2 seconds sounds about right and they have the cap space to pull this off

Youre getting a top 10 center in the league. Buf would want a center back (Suzuki), a solid roster player (Drouin, Toffoli), a prospect, and picks. We arent talking about an average center. Eichel will cost more than Suzuki, Caufield and a first

The issue at hand here is not whether the Sabres say no, but whether the Habs say yes.

I already got a resounding no from my previous post wink

Although he's aging, he's still a top defenceman in the nhl.

At least it's not Hall for Larsson.

Due to Montreal's cap situation, Weber would be a virtually mandatory inclusion in a trade for Eichel and his $10 million cap hit.

Not necessary. Byron + Tatar + Kulak = 10+ M and there is almost no value for Sabres.

My only hope is the package given up is way better then Eichel and they are less potent of a team than they could have been

Yes, that's my point, any trade with Montreal that Buffalo would accept would have to include Weber.

I do not agree, there are options. Byron (cap dump) + Chiarot + Armia - it works and Buffalo doesn't need Weber, although I don't really understand the value.

Suzuki + Caufield or Romanov + 1st - it's like the base always

But my point is that Buffalo wouldn't make any trades for Byron or Chiarot or Armia or Tatar or Kulak. Therefore, any trade that Buffalo WOULD accept for Eichel would have to include Weber if it occurred at all, otherwise Montreal couldn't stay under the cap.

Yes, the base is Suzuki plus Caufield or Romanov plus a first-round draft pick, but Montreal still has to move at least $8 million in cap back to Buffalo, and the only player that can do that whom Buffalo would even consider accepting is Weber. If Buffalo is unwilling to take Weber, then it is impossible to construct any other trade with Montreal which Buffalo would accept.

But why? I offered two trading options in order to return 10 million to Buffalo and so that Montreal would not trade Weber.

Byron + Chiarot + Armia or Byron + Tatar + Kulak

For Sabres will not matter which cap will be returned if there are already Suzuki + Cauifeld/Romanov + 1st
