I love Tatar and would love seeing him back in a wings jersey but mantha is one of the main pieces of are teams future and it wouldn't make sense trading him for a 2nd, expiring forward who might not even resign, Byron is only alright wouldn't be a terrible add but would rather have that spot in the lineup for a young guy, and mete would be interesting but not really on the same level value wise for mantha IMO.

As much as Mantha makes sense in a Canadians uni, the pieces that Detroit would need and want are not ones that Montreal would give up. Detroit needs a young center, top 4 lhd of the future and a future goaltender. Montreal has pieces for that yes but eventually they could easily out value Mantha. My best guess would be get a third team involved

This Mantha to Montreal has been beaten to death. We’d want KK and you don’t want to give him up. UFAs have little to no value to rebuilding teams plus if we really want him then we can just get him as a UFA as we have a truckload of cap.

Mantha isnt in the same realm as Caufield in terms of trade value. I like Mantha a lot and would love him to have him on the habs but he is very overrated on this site. He is a really good second line winger. Not a first line winger on a legit top line in the NHL. Unless you put him with two other stars. You Detroit fans think this guy is the second coming, but he has never proven to be the guy you want him to be. Plus Detroit isnt winning any time soon and definitely not a guarantee he resigns once he is a UFA.
