Patience, don't rush him. With him in the AHL and Cole on the bottom pair, its still a contending blueline.

Everyone saying not to rush him—you watching the world juniors? You’re not rushing him, it’s not a lack of patience, he looks NHL ready now. There’s no point in having him dominate junior again, he needs better competition. Every prospect reaches a point where there’s no point in them playing at a lower level and need to make the jump, and Byram’s at that point imo. I’d also go out on a limb and say he’s already better than Cole honestly.

Exactly and he legit was bored in the whl last year, that league has nothing left to offer him

He’s a pro player, and icing the best team possible include byram on the 3rd pair

Except he doesn't have the cup experience that Cole does... I have been watching the Team Canada especially last night where he was player of the game. Playing in the NHL and in the playoffs is a little different than NHL prospects.

I doubt they trade him before the season, but if you get into the season and Byram earns that spot and keeps Cole as a 7D, especially when you have Timmins as an 8th D wouldn't it make sense to see if you can get something decent for Cole since he's just gonna walk this offseason anyways?

or injuries happen and if you have Ian Cole in your back pocket at the TDL to be a depth guy, youre in good shape.
Like I said there is no reason to trade Cole, let the avs have as many options and depth as possible

Byram isn't old enough to play in the AHL this year. He either has to go back to junior or join the Avs.

And boy did they need that depth last year in the playoffs. Could really have used a Cole to come in for, say, an injured EJ, no?
