Description
Immediately changes direction of franchise. still a question mark in goal but still remains a good defensive team with deep wingers, a really good bottom six mixed with a ton of young talent

Philly- obviously moving Ghost would be a corresponding move but Dumba fits in perfectly in Phillys window. top 4 of Provorov, Myers, Sanheim and Dumba is really really good plus you have York stepping in when Dumba is a UFA.
Trade could probably be with Patrick too, could play around with it but it gives Minny another young skilled C and Patrick/Frost are a little redundant if both are healthy

Rask can kinda be to anyone

Pateryn could be on LTIR or traded for a late pick. not sure how his health would be

Barzal is not signing an offer sheet, he is about to sign his bridge deal with the Isles.

That would end up being a pretty undersized future top 6 with Barzal, Fiala, Frost, Kaprizov, and Rossi -- with only Barzal reaching 6ft flat. Lots of skill for sure, but not much size.

edit: Boldy is taller, so that helps -- but the point still stands.

How is there no compensation for the Barzal O/S? What loophole rule is this?

Lol, ya, sorry, throw 7 at 11m per in front of him as opposed to a bridge. He is going to consider it. Sure 2 years from now the cap could go up significantly and player salaries with it. He could have a career ending injury by then too. Financial security is not a bad thing. 77m as opposed to what 14-21? Tough to pass up.

I think you're selling dumba very cheaply, too cheaply, but PHI would do that deal yesterday.

Frost and a 1st is probably closer, but I still think its an underpay, ment. Frost, PHI 1st and say another prospect like a LD Linus Hogberg or LW matthew Strome, and PHI says yes immediately

just didnt bother giving them the picks, thought it was pretty obvious theyd have to give up the 4 1sts

yea figured it was light, Im a big fan of Frost and was curious other people's perceptions were. Was close to putting York in there but Philly probably hangs onto him

Oh thank Christ I thought I was having a stroke because aside from Barzal likely not singining the O/S, why wouldn't a team with cap space just immediately do this with no consequences?

I think Frost would be enough. He's a very highly touted prospect and as good as Dumba is he has his warts too. I think addidng a 1st would be too rich fwiw

Barzal now or Petterson next offseason I'd love to see the Wild make a play for a superstar like them rather than just hoping Rossi pans out. Especially since the TDL selling they'll have this year they'll have the picks to cover well enough to soften the blow.

If we sign anybody for 10+, it means we have to get rid of either KK or Fiala assuming they get paid next year. The old timer contracts really hinder what BG can offer. Even if we buy out Zuccarello we will right up against the cap without Dumba on the books and we will be relying on a couple ELCs to be mid 6 players during a compete window. I get that we would solve the 1C problem, but I don't know if it makes us better. Just food for thought.

I think your logic is spot on. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Frost and a pick for Dumba deal happen the day after the expansion draft next year. I would assume the ED is why PHI didn't go the Dumba route.

Yea you’d be putting some pressure on the kids to make some headway, but if you make a deal for dumba to Seattle and buyout rask then you just have to deal with zuccarello and parise. Certainly not ideal but you can sign Hartman for a middle 6 spot. Sign kk for a short bridge deal, 2 years and fiala long term. And then you can paint a picture how it’ll shape up from then on.

Yeah, not saying we can’t get a number 1 guy in, but it comes down to how long we want to have him with a roster that competes. I don’t think the team can win a cup with its current d corps and lack of elite talent up front but I do think they can win a couple rounds if they fill out the talent up front by building around KK and Fiala.

I think MIN fans have become obsessed with “the number 1 center” to the point that they’d be willing to put us in a perennial cap crunch to do it. I’ve been playing with a 2022-2023 Scenario where we get Barkov and pay him, I’ll post that just show why I think it might not be the best idea to and why Rossi needs to stay in Europe this year.

I would say it's almost a dead certainty the cap will not go up in two years anyway. I think the new CBA recalculates it with the average of the last two years of revenue or flat cap, whichever is highest? Going to be very low revenue next year which is going to hurt that calculation for the next two years. Young guys should be signing five, six years deals to come up for a new deal as far away from the economic wasteland that was 2020 as possible in hopes that the revenue will recover by then and the cap with it.
