Tampa at 1 is pretty undisputable at this point, defending champs
Colorado edges Dallas' IMO for best in the west because of Mackinnon
Dallas at 3, Cup finals last year, solid team
Vegas, solid team love their style, arguably deepest team.
Caps, always competitive, best goal scorer in history, solid deep team
Philly, up and coming team, Hart is a difference maker.
Pittsburgh has Crobsy and Malkin, hard to not include that in top 10, although considered it.
Vancouver, love what they're building, still a year or two from serious contention.
Islanders, best coach in hockey has a lot to do with this pick, play the right way.
Leafs, Probably just bias is why I included them, look good on paper but always underperform.
Honorable mentions to Boston and St. Louis, two teams that have been good for a long time, hated both of their off seasons tho and think they will both take some steps back from past years success.
And Edmonton has arguably the two best players in the league but aside from them I am really not a fan of that team, two players don't make a team (I know what I said about Crosby and Malkin but they have a way better supporting cast compartievly).
DAL is way too high -- they overachieved last year and I think they'll come back down to earth this season, especially with a lot of key players currently injured.
And I feel VAN will regress this year as well -- worse goaltending, and their defense doesn't make me very confident.
CAR is definitely a team that should get consideration here as well.

True I forgot Carolina. Should sub them in for the Leafs. I like Van's team I think Demko will take a step this year, he's the guy of the future. And I like what Dallas has going. Hesikanen is stupidly good, solid tandem in net, Klingberg is solid, Lindel can play, and their first line is a great one, Hinz is a player, big solid playoff style team, Idk personally I like what they have going.
Dallas isn't that good, and I honestly think that Toronto is underrated. They made some good moves this offseason, and I think they've got one of the most complete rosters in the league

They've hurt me to many times, until they do something on the ice I don't really care what the paper looks like lol.
Boston and St Louis were #1 and 2 last year. If you want to lay a bet on them not being in the top-10, I'll give you even odds.
Boston were #1 and #2? according to who? Because they played for the cup the year prior? How'd they do in the playoffs? And who did each team add to make them any better? They both got significantly worse.

Demko hasn't done anything special during the regular season to really make me feel like he's ready. He had a fantastic playoffs, but that's 4 games. So I need to see a more consistent output from him. And Holtby is a downgrade from Markstrom. The defensive core is pretty weak, so I don't think Holtby or Demko will have a particularly good season. Sure they have good young players, but they need to bring in a better supporting cast before they make that next step -- kinda similar to TOR's issue over the past few sesaons.
And what is the top line for DAL at this point? Seguin is injured, so it's doesn't include. I agree that Heiskanen is unreal, and Klingberg is a bit underrated. But Lindell is not as good as people make him out to be. That team is very old and doesn't have a lot of scoring. And Bishop is injured now I believe too, so there are some question marks in goal too. Hopefully Khudobin can keep up his playoff play. Hintz hasn't made that next step yet, but maybe with Seguin out he will be given that chance. I just don't think that this team has enough going on offense to really make them a top team.
Petterson Horvat Boeser Hughes Demko. Young talent is going to get better not worse.
Ever seen Demko's numbers? Aside from a hot stretch in the playoffs?

Literally not a single Canadian team was top 10 last year and none of the top 10 from last year got noticeably weaker outside of Boston (who was #1 btw so its unlikely they fell outside the top 10)
Chara declining or gone, Krug gone is huge, injuries and offseason surgeries to Marchand and Pasta. 0 additions. And their best players are 1 year older on the wrong side of 30. No Chara and no Krug would turn one of the leagues best defenses into a mediocre one at best.

Chara is still an effective third pair D. Krug was a beast on the PP but not at EV. Marchand will be ready or miss 3-5 games at worst, Pastrnak couple of weeks but it will be fine since the Bruins have enough RWs. Talking about RW, no they haven't made "0 additions", they added Craig Smith. One of the best signings this offseason.

Chara might not even play. Don't make it sound like those are nothing injuries/surgeries. Those guys may not be 100% for awhile.
