Description
If DET, OTT, LA are taking on one of these bad contracts, this should be the asking price. All three of these teams have a great prospect pool and will only improve it next year. At this point they need quality not quantity and if the other team doesn't come to terms with there demand, so be it.

Détails additionnels:
Yes TJ can still play, but with some good UFA's still available, you could sign someone just as good with a better contract. To take on 4 years of TJ it will have to be a great return. Possibly one of there RFAs or picks starting with there 1st.

You wouldn’t get Dobson or wahlstrom even without the 1st.. bellows and a 1 is the best value you’ll get and I don’t think it’ll even end up being that much

Zero chance the Jets are trading a 1st for moving Perreault, the Wings got a 2nd for taking Staal, you're not getting more for taking a guy who makes less.

None of these are realistic tbh. Teams aren’t going to pay that much to get rid of salary

This is a good thread.

It's understanding that the "onus to add" is on the trading team, and the receiving team doesn't need to make concessions. If the trading team doesn't give the assets needed to make the trade viable for the receiving team, the receiving team will just continue to reject the offers.

You have to make the trade worth it for the destination team. If the price is too high, then you get to keep your bad contracts. Getting upset that they won't take your bad contracts for cheaper isn't going to get them to take your bad contracts for cheaper.

I see your point, but we needed a veteran LHD. The Staal trade was before free agency and now seeing how everything is playing out, I'm not sure Stevie does that trade. Anyway, that was then, this is now!

Teams aren't giving up their best prospects to move bad contract, Islanders aren't dealing Wahlstrom/Dobson to move Boychuk's constract. Nor is Vancouver dealing Podkolzin/Rathbone to move Loui Eriksson's contract. Neither Komarov or Perreault will cost a 1st round picks to move those contracts perhaps a 3rd round pick at best.

100 percent correct in my opinion. With the times were in we need to be realistic. There is no chance the canucks give up that much to loose louis contract. Benning would be fired, we can just bury him in the minors this year.

I agree they probably won't move there best prospects, but they are serious about moving guys like Loui and Boychuk, they will be giving multiple draft picks. If it only takes a third to move Komarov and Perreault they would have done it weeks ago. They are trying to sign Barzal and you think a third round pick is what stands in the way?

Komarov's contract isn't the issue to resign Matt Barzal, Johnny Boychuk and possibly Nick Leddy are. Johnny Boychuk is the one that needs to be moved to resign Barzal or Andrew Ladd and teams in a flat cap world aren't helping out Lou without major sweeteners added then there lays the problem.

And some team is going to take on two years a 6 million for an over the hill slow defensman?

Please remember that the number of teams needing to shed salary is greater than the teams with cap to accept salary. Also the onus is on the team trying to shed salary rather than the team taking on salary.

If you think you can shed 6 million over two years for anything less than a 1st and then some you are mistaken. I beleive.

I wasn't pleased with the Staal trade, Yzerman was given way too much credit for that, he bailed the Rangers out imo and if they needed a veteran LHD there were and still are some available that could be signed cheap!

As for the Jets trade ya I get we're further into the offseason and there's less cap space throughout the league but the Jets aren't in a cap crunch to move Perreault so can't see them overpaying to move him, they can just use him this year, he's still a decent player just a bit overpaid.

Gonna be really interesting to see how TB and NYI figure their cap issues, bet we see some LTIR shenanigans from both teams.

Perreault actually makes 800k more and Yzerman has said multiple times he plans on using Staal while our bottom six forwards are pretty set. I don’t think it would take a first to move him though.

And that is perfectly fine to bury him in the minors. All I’m saying is don’t expect anyone one of these teams to take his contract without a huge sweetener.

Exactly might point diehard, MAJOR SWEETENERS! Like a first ++ or Walstrom/Dobson!! What else do they have to offer?
