Absolutely love this. Great playmaker and amazing term. And with all the Russians like Zaitsev, zub, Anisimov, abramov, sokolov, it's great to have another good Russian player the young Russians can lean on.

Good comment! I hadn’t counted how many Russians were on the team now.

Solid move for the sens. Getting some offensive talent to play with their young guys is important for development. $5M with a short term is definitely a good value, and from the stand point of an internal budget, they will pay less for Dadanov early on, and likely flip his later salary for assets and actually pay him less than his AAV.

Worst case scenario they buy some time financially until they may actually be fans in the building.

Good move.

I expected him to go to a contender. I guess he got used to losing in Florida.

Hall in Buffalo, Toffoli in Montreal and now Dadonov in Ottawa neutral

If you think about it, it makes sense. Ottawa probs aint making the playoffs so if they want they can retain some cap flip him to another team and get some high picks and prospects and continue to rebuild. Its the same situation with Hall going to Buffalo

They let Duclair (younger, probably cheaper and at the same level) go and sign 31-years-old Dadonov? Makes no sence to me...

However, the contract itself looks great to me.

Fred Englert He had 2 goals in his last 29 games they offered him a substantial raise and he declined it. He wanted to test the market. Thats why they signed Dadonov but they haven't ruled out bring duclair back.

Good solid Free Agent Signing by Ottawa. Value player with very good continual upside.

1000% a good signing for this young team. They need a veteran to lead them in the right direction for the next 3 years. The only thing I'm concerned about: is Dadonov willing to be a part of this painful process?
