Yea after one bad year this is the common analysis. For a 30th overall pick this is the evolution I expect even with the lackluster season. A real short sighted take here imo. But it is fair.

Just my take on everyone mowing the future. My point wasn’t that steel was a poor player but at 22 with two seasons under his belt and time given to develop you really should consider him good already. Development is usually a curve. Not a jagged skyrocketing line across a chart. I would expect steel to get better as he moves from here to his prime.

The trade proposed is more than fair. But does it make sense for either side? Not at all. Leafs fans rarely stop to consider what motivates the other side. They also love to destroy our window of playoff success.

I see dozens of Laine trades with ridiculous returns. Yet nylander is expected to go for scraps in comparison.

Oh I agree. This is just a bad post to begin with all due respect to OP. Nylander would be our best forward if he's on the squad. Steel is going to be a middle six guy is whole career imo. I just was inferring like similar players his age he needs the system to grow and the ducks are like the the mid 2010 leafs with no strong identity to promote said growth.

Holl and Manson has to be a wash. Holl is playing better hockey is signed for half as much and an extra year. I know everyone seems to love him for some reason but I watch a ton of ducks games out here. Even get to a few at the saddledome. Manson is just not that good. He scored more goals on his own net then the Oppenheimer this past season. He is just not the Manson of 2 years ago.

Steel is a good young player Johnsson and engvall doesn’t get you a young player with potential from a team that wants to rebuild.

Your trade csick is absolutely horrible. To move up 9 spots in the draft and acquire a Dman I put closer on par with zaitsev than others we give up nylander? A horrible trade for sure.

Most of it comes from my view of Manson. You could swap him with gudbranson and I wouldn’t mind.

What people don’t realize is that the ducks have two AWESOME Dmen. Fowler and lindholm. Gudbranson was a perfect example of what playing with those two guys can make you look like.

A late first a fringe top four Dman and a young middle 6 winger for nylander? That’s an easy pass.
