NJD
  1. Benn, Jordie
  2. Virtanen, Jake [Droits de RFA]
  3. Woo, Jett
  4. Choix de 3e ronde en 2021 (VAN)
Détails additionnels:
New Jersey gives away severson but gains 2 roster players in Benn and Virtanen as well as receiving a pick and prospect to make it worth it
2.
DET
  1. Baertschi, Sven (1 500 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Canucks clearly no longer have any use for Baertschi and Detroit really has no use for Pickard. Detroit can gain Baertschi at almost half retained for 1 season and see if he can be a top 9 option while not giving up a pick
3.
VAN
  1. Jankowski, Mark [Droits de RFA]
  2. Choix de 5e ronde en 2021 (CGY)
CGY
  1. Stecher, Troy [Droits de RFA]
Détails additionnels:
It does not seem like the Canucks are too keen on keeping Stecher although he is a decent right handed option. Jankowski had a poor year in Calgary so I think considering Hamonic is a UFA, Stecher could be a replacement option for them while Canucks gain a guy who could play 3rd line centre for cheap
4.
BUF
  1. Lockwood, William
  2. Sutter, Brandon
  3. Choix de 5e ronde en 2021 (VAN)
Détails additionnels:
Buffalo had the 30th ranked pk last season. With this they upgrade their pk while gaining a prospect and a pick. Pretty much a lateral move salary wise.
5.
VAN
  1. Cernak, Erik [Droits de RFA]
TBL
  1. Gaudette, Adam [Droits de RFA]
  2. Rafferty, Brogan
  3. Choix de 4e ronde en 2021 (VAN)
Détails additionnels:
With Tampa's cap struggles and Cirelli, Sergachev, and Cernak all being RFA's expecting big pay raises, I think they might have to move on from Cernak. In return they acquire Adam Gaudette who is a decent forward they could probably sign for cheap, Brogan Rafferty who is a right handed D who could maybe push for a spot on their right side along with Cal Foote, and a pick
6.
LAK
  1. Palmu, Petrus
  2. Roussel, Antoine
Détails additionnels:
Kings take Roussel and and a prospect for an ahl guy. Mostly to clear space for canucks, but kings gain a bottom 6 player and a prospect in return
7.
DET
  1. Eriksson, Loui
Détails additionnels:
This might work better than the Alzner for Eriksson deal. Eriksson slightly higher cap hit but Canucks take on 1 extra year of Abdelkader's deal to even it out.

Which one did you not like? The Alzner for Eriksson deal or the Roussel one? I think the Alzner for Eriksson deal actually favours MTL but i would understand if you didn't like the Roussel trade. 3 mil dollar bottom 6 forward is a bit rich. What would you recommend I change?

That is sound logic and makes sense. Not sure what Severson's value is. What would you recommend I change to make it more reasonable in your opinion?

I would take on Roussel if he came with Virtanen and the Habs would rather just keep Alzner and buy him out or wait till his contract ends and leave him in Laval.

Fair enough. I have not tried the buy out calculator to see what buying out Alzner would be like but I guess you could just continue to leave him in Laval. I was just thinking that their salaries would be somewhat of a lateral move and Eriksson would be a guy who could potentially play in MTL's lineup but your reasoning seems fair

I wasn't sure what his QO would be but i'm thinking that's a bit much. Maybe we don't qualify him and try to sign him as a UFA. Not sure he's even worth 1.25 with the season he had this season

A third seems like a bit much but I would understand a late round pick or throw in prospect to make it worth taking on for the wings.

Honestly he'd probably sign for that if nobody's gonna give him his QO

MTL isn’t interested in Roussel at all
We’ll need all the capspace necessary in 2021
Alzner vs Eriksson doesn’t make senses for us either, Alzner buried in the minor cost ~3.6M, Eriksson 6M ... Again, we need capspace for 2021

My point with the Eriksson and Alzner deal is that Erikssons actual cash payment is lower even though his cap hit is higher. I understand your reasoning though, cap space is such a valuable asset on its own. As for Roussel I wasn't thinking MTL had a great amount of interest in him tbh I only traded him to MTL because he is French. That's the only connection there. You could replace MTL with any team with a decent amount of cap space and the deal would still stand. It wasn't about MTL having interest, it was more just about moving him and I only chose MTL because of the French connection. Thanks for your input

Actual money paid isn’t something the habs will make moves to change. Geoff Moulson doesn’t have any financial troubles, and putting the team in a position to win is obviously more important than saving a bit of money.

And while Roussel is french, he’s from France, and the only connection he has to Quebec is that he played 4 seasons in Chicoutimi. And even if he were from Quebec, that’s no reason to trade for a player.

I dont disagree with you at all. I figured the Eriksson for Alzner deal would actually help the habs as Eriksson is at least an NHL player still, just at a higher cap hit. And I wasnt insinuating that Moulson was in financial trouble but during covid times, I figured owners might want to shed some cash owed for this season while still upgrading the team albeit slightly. As for Roussel just because he is French is not a reason to trade for him, that is correct. For the Canucks lineup I just figured I would trade him to MTL and throw in a prospect. You could replace MTL with any team and the deal would stand for Roussel.

Just take him out of the trade, a 5th for Stecher is still fair. Jankowski will very likely not get qualified by anyone.

Also no chance bolts do that

That makes sense. I just don’t think that a 4th liner like Eriksson is worth the extra cap hit of $2.4 million this year, and $1.8 million next year (assuming both players get bought out). Instead we could just use Belzile, who is just as good, and would be making league minimum.

Makes sense. Maybe Detroit would be a better spot for Eriksson instead of MTL. Abdelkader at 4.75 mil i think for one extra season than Eriksson. Cap hit is higher on Eriksson but we take Abdelkader for one extra season. One for One deal would prob get that done.

That would work better, especially since the Red Wings won’t be near the cap anytime soon.

Good young player or prospect that fits into NJD rebuild. They have plenty of cap space to fill roster spots. They need top-six RW prospects, and young defensive d-men.
