I agree. I'm not really on board with moving Garland specifically due to the fact he is a quality top 6 piece locked in at a reasonable cap hit for 4 more years after this one but if the Canucks are really serious about moving him, this seems like a reasonable return. As for motte and schenn I do like them but ultimately they are expendable pieces. The way i viewed it was motte for the second and a swap between Dermott and Schenn who are both locked in on deals through next season. Dermott is the younger piece that can play either right or left side but due to the fact Schenn makes 800,000 next season and Dermott makes 1.5, its not completely unreasonable to squeeze another late round pick

I get where you are coming from, but i disagree. I think it would just be a much better move to move off Holtby's contract completely rather than retain, even if it costs a pick to do so. I dont think there would be much interest league wide for Holtby as he is just not very good anymore and on an expensive deal.

As for Schmidt i do think he would have some interest around the league, but that contract is very expensive and the term would be worrisome. I know i would be very cautious to acquire a guy who just had a down season for 4 years at almost 6 mil per and i would suspect other gm's around the league would be very cautious as well.

As for Reinhart, i just cant base analysis off of youtube clips. The fact remains he has been a very good top 6 player for years and actually has a really good analytical profile in terms of his 2 way game.

Addressing Seattle- There is no guarantee that Seattle takes Holtby, they could just snag lind or gadjovich. The Canucks need that cap relief and Seattle taking him would be a huge relief and would save them from buyout

Addressing St. Louis- I believe the Nate Schmidt contract is a burden for teams and the canucks would need to fill that hole with a body. Even though the Canucks get back a worse d man, at least they get someone who can play and is a relief in terms of cap space

Addressing Buffalo- I have not heard anything about Reinhart having character issues and being unmotivated. I can only go off of what i know and what i know is he is a very good top 6 calibre winger/centre who is a great player and provides flexibility throughout the lineup whether he is playing down the middle or on the wing.

Yeah you would think he might fetch a late 1st and a B level prospect or something like that in a trade. I do think they are going to have to take back some salary but I think they can get away with eating a contract that will be expiring after this season. Looking at this roster though this team looks a little underwhelming. Although there seems to be some money to play around with in free agency, this looks like it could be the start of a rebuild in St. Louis, or at least thats the route i would consider going if i were Armstrong.

Your not wrong and i do not think the wild should be fixated on acquiring Eichel as their are many other targets out there that could be acquired in a number of creative ways. As for the cap space Zuccarello's nmc expires after this season and i think that is a contract that could be moved next offseason although the wild would probably have to retain or add an asset to get him off the books. I think the wild would be ok moving off their own first because they have Pittsburghs just a couple picks later. All in all, personally i actually believe this is a team that could be a strong contender as it is a team from the top to the bottom that consistently produces favorable analytic results for the most part although the aging blueline is obviously a concern. But I want to make clear i am in no way saying this is the only option or even the best option, but it is an option nonetheless. One thing is clear to me, this team needs a major upgrade at the centre position and i think a Jack Eichel trade is certainly a viable option.

I am not claiming to know anything the insiders don't know. If a trade were impending i would assume it would be in Buffalo's best interest to share the medical records. Nobody is going to pay market value for him unless they are somewhat certain of what is going on. As for Zuccarello to move him you might not have to give up any assets at all but retention in a trade is still significant as every dollar is going to count moving forward considering this teams cap situation
