You have a major hole at center. Jordan fills that. You get a pair of picks, accompanying one of the best analytical players in the game, and want more? You either greatly underestimate Staal, or greatly overestimate Dumba.

Gardiner didn't even have a bad year, any analytical run team will take a shot with him. Winnipeg I used as a placeholder because he is an improvement on guys like Kulikov and Pionk.

A 32 year old 3C is not a need

32 year old 2C, one of the best playmakers analytically in the game and one of the best defensive forwards in the league is 100% a need for the wild.

He might be a marginal improvement on Kulikov but Gardiner's contract negates that advantage. However, Pionk is far better that Gardiner.

Big disagree. Pionk this year rode his PDO. Gardiner (with his most unlucky season ever) still was on pace for 30+ points from the blueline. He's not a defensive upgrade on most teams, but he's 100% vbetter than Pionk and Kulikov. It's not close. Kulikov isn't an NHL player at this point (speaking analyticallu) and Pionk never has been (again analyticaly)

Yeah, it's just my lyin' eyes that tell me Reimer was 27th in the League in save percentage and 42nd in wins. If you discount guys with more games played, Brian Elliott and Darcy Kuemper, playing on much worse teams, and Ilya Samsonov had more wins and Kuemper and Samsonov had better save percentages, too. Then factor in all the goalies who played more games precisely because they were better and anybody with any sense knows that Carolina has a goalie need.

The fact that Staal may or may not be an upgrade at #2C next year for the Wild doesn't have anything to do with whether he's anywhere close to Matt Dumba in actual value.
