It's fair, I debated this. But McDavid is just better to me, would love to see him with Colorados team. I'd say he is more dominant offensively, but MacKinnon might have the better defense

This is what I think. MacKinnon is the better overall player, while McDavid is better offensivly but does not do that much defensivly

If it's a league simulation fantasy draft, I think it goes:

1. McDavid
2. Crosby
3. Drai
4. Matthews
5. MacKinnon
6. Ovechkin
7. Eichel
8. Kucherov
9. Kane
10. Panarin

The first two are a no brainer, I don't think anyone passes McDavid and Crosby.
Drai is a point getter, again, don't think he gets passed.
Matthews being a goal scorer center will be valued over MacKinnon's overall play. Although, one could argue the other way around.
Top 5 is pretty much set on those guys. Next best is Ovechkin or Eichel, then the elite wingers in Kuch, Kane, Panarin.

McDavid does have the longer contract/is younger/ has the hockey sense and skill to become a great defender, so I think he will stay #1. I bet next year his defense is 2x better, because of the playoff loss.

3 Thoughts

1.)I might put Aho a little higher. I really like what he does on both ends of the ice. I like Point and I think he's a top player in this league, but I think some of his production is benefiting from his teammates. Not saying Aho has worse teammates, just that Point's are more offensively gifted as a whole.

2.) I'm always one that looks at the long-term outlook and not just for next season. Because of this, I have to say Sidney Crosby is the greatest player of his generation, but doesn't deserve to be on this list. He's over the hill and although he's still a top 3 player in the league, he will start declining very soon I feel.

3.) Victor Rask #1 all day. He's the Swedish Sniping Sensation that's gripping the Nation.

That makes sense, wasn't sure about those 4 Dmen, they are my top choices when it comes to picks just didn't know if they where top10 worthy...I'd take Eichel over Hughes though

Good point on Sid. I'm just hesitant because some guys age quickly after 30, some don't. And haha I saw you and Ladd going back and forth. Just thought I'd add to it.

Sid won't age quick, just cause of his smarts for the game, u get 4/5 prime years and 3/4 top 50 years out of him.

Now this is the debate that I can't quite pick. All 4 have slightly different skill sets. I'd say Hughes/Makar are the closest but all 4 bring it each night and are the 4 most exciting young D in the game. I honestly don't know how I'd rank them. Probably will change week to week. Here's my list as of right now:

1.) Heiskanen
2.) Dahlin
3.) Hughes
4.) Makar

But I'm not even confident in that. You could come back with the exact opposite top 4 and I'm not sure I'd have a good argument.

Heiskanen is the best right now, not even a question. He's the only one who isn't sheltered.
