MTL declines. The gap between Nylander and Domi isn’t THAT big and Petry is one of the most important players to our team. We declined Jake Bean + 1st for Petry, you’d have to give up way more to get Petry.

WTF is wrong with you we need a winger Petry last year and domi dont want to play here anymore and if you so afraid of loosing petry remember you can make an offer to another RD like pietrangelo

chill bruh what the hell. I think l we can get more value... that’s all. Petry isn’t moving, he’s getting extended. Nylander is great and all, but I would give all of that up to upgrade Domi to Nylander. Domi is probably a 60 point guy if he’s on the top 6 all year and Nylander is a 70 point guy imo.

What? Keep petry, who says domi is gone? Plus we could just trade domi for a winger AND NOT LOSE PETRY. Nylander also had a career year on that team. He’s not worth it

Also, no way MTL would make a blockbuster trade with Toronto unless Bergevin thinks he’s getting the better end of the deal. This trade makes us worse.

Reese for Johnsson, 3rd

Pittsburgh accepts. The $3.4M cap hit hurts, but the 3rd would come in handy to potentially help move other cap out (just like Toronto is doing here)

Not all that interested in the Savard trade. We really don't need more wingers, and I don't think SDA is going to be in the NHL in the next year or two.

Yeah, he's like "Hey man, don't worry about Petry, your team could just go bid 10Mil for Pietrangelo so they screw up their cap situation like the Leafs did!"

That was exactly what I thought about too xd. The Leads screwed up by signing JT91 IMO. He’s great, but their cap situation is screwed for years.

They should have just signed him for less. Do the whole "look man, you got one shot at playing for your childhood team, a team with a wide open window for Stanley Cup runs, making tons of money, all at the same time. But to afford other players that will help us win, you'll have to take 8.5Mil instead off 11. Our ownership will work their tails off to help line up sponsorships for you if you want, but I can't give you over 8.5Mil, cuz then Nylander would want 6.5-7Mil, Matthews will want 10.5+ and so will Marner. We can't build a team around that kind of salary going to 4 guys when we have a superstar defenseman and an elite goalie. Just won't work. Do you want to be another guy who made a lot of money playing hockey? Or do you want to be the guy who led by example, took way less money than they could to play for their childhood team and led them to multiple Stanley Cup Championships? The time to decide on your legacy, begins now."

Would of gave him 9.1M with a lot of bonuses, a MNC and guaranteed captaincy and used your arguments.

Even at that reduced cap hit man, if all 3 big salary boys took 1.9Mil less and Nylander took like 750k-1Mil less, they could afford an excellent RD with a contract like Petry's, and still have 1.0-1.25Mil in cap space left to sign depth forward pieces. Instead, that sh*t was just swallowed right up by the big boys without even so much as a "thank you, sir"

They might want to rethink ZAR as a second line winger though lol

Why does Arizona trade Luybushkin for just 4th rounder? You think he's good enough to be in the top 6.

I mean they were planning on the cap rising. All would be fine if the cap rose as planned. Would have had more than enough cap space to address the RD issue. When you get the chance to sign a star #1C and expend no assets you've gotta take it
