Take Two on Solidifying Goaltending Tandem

Description
My initial trade of Andersen to the Rangers wasn't well met because the majority did not want to buy out Lundqvist to accommodate Andersen in a goaltending tandem similar to Boston's setup with Rask and Halak.

The Rangers get a cost controlled RW in Kapanen who can play in all situations and excels in skating speed and is a shoot first winger. Also is a great PK player and a decent PP player if the Rangers should want to make room for him in the special teams.

Bracco still has great potential to make an NHL lineup as a stunt double of Marner. He can slot into the bottom six as a Marner-like playmaker should the Rangers management choose to believe his abilities would be a good fit there. The draft picks are for in case they choose to still be in the rebuilding stage or they could package them for another trade, as they could for any of these assets.

Andersen having only one year at 5 million diminishes his value a bit but the fact he is a workhorse goalie (minimum 60 starts and great stats considering the amount he plays and the fact he's been either 1st or tied for 1st in shots faced the past few years) means it isn't diminished too much since he's going to a team that can afford to extend him. Toronto could use a cost controlled bottom six player that can chip in 20 points with those minutes. The draft picks could be altered (they don't have to be final) so it doesn't have to necessarily be what I requested.

Andreas Johnsson can be traded later in the season but before the trade deadline. He wasn't given enough time to see how he performs to his contract. If he scores at least at least 40 points, which he has been on pace the past two seasons, then he definitely is worth his contract.

The team hasn't had a full season of Keefe hockey so the previous season and play-in playoffs should not be judged regularly as they are special circumstances (plus, Dubas had to give up assets to remove bad contracts signed by previous management). The 2020-2021 season should really reveal the Dubas-Keefe vision of the team and their performance with little hindrance.

Johnsson will benefit the Red Wings really well with his cost controlled contract and production with middle six minutes. Considering he's playing for the Red Wings at their stage of the rebuild, he will be given more minutes and will produce more points so he will be worth more than his contract for the team.

Rangers had their chance to give us georgiev they overvalued him so Dubas said okay and made a better trade for Campbell. By now they would have had Kapenan but oh well we dont need him anymore. If Dubas trades Freddie it would probs be for Murray

That might be the most horrible trade for an average goalie I have ever seen on this site. Please stop.

This is all kinds of no. Overpay for georgiev amd arizona has 2 goalies already 3 if you count hill they are looking to move one not add another. Plus kemper is better. I'll just say Detroit declines.

Georgiev's stats in regards to shots saved between 1-15 ft and 16-30 ft are better than Andersen's. And it's not just one year. It's throughout both their careers. The Leafs will benefit from it.

Your opinion could have been said for when Andersen was acquired but he turned out great for the team at that time. He's still a great goalie but his cost is a price the Leafs are not able to afford.

That Detroit trade is bad and there is no guarantee going to Detroit will increase his production given who he currently plays with. Bertuzzi is also defensively responsible. Bertuzzi also doesn’t sign that and is the same age so why do we do it?

Bertuzzi trade is considering the team takes a gamble on a player that can contribute defensively but is not cost controlled. The points he put up this year is great. The leafs could remove the draft pick and make the trade one-for-one if they could sign him for a similar cap hit percentage that they did for Johnsson, assuming Bertuzzi repeats his numbers.

More of a cap dump than anything assuming the Leafs acquire Georgiev. Him being on the bottom six should allow him to excel throughout his contract.

Andersen was going into his 3rd season as a starter. Compared to gieorgiev’s short.... average resume.

I think it's more to do with he plays with some sandpaper and can put up 30 points. It would be a smart move. Then you go get Bennett.... and if you're really crazy, Foegele.

Put those Fronts boys together. Be a nasty 3rd unit.

The biggest issue for any team trading for Georgiev is games played. It's definitely not enough to warrant the kind of return NYR are asking for.

Add the fact that goaltending tends to be a crap shoot as far development goes and suddenly it makes less and less sense to give up too much value for a goalie who just has not played enough at the NHL level.

Detroit is swimming in cap and Bertuzzi is better offensively and defensively than Johnsson. So why does Detroit do the trade? We would be interested in Sandin as our LD isn’t our biggest strength.

He's been playing a starter's load since the 2014-2015 season. He's been holding onto consistent numbers of around .916 average the entire time which gets teams into playoffs and if a hot hand occurs, could potentially win the cup. He's been posting these numbers while with the Leafs and previously with the Ducks but they're around the same. He's a great goalie but he hasn't stolen a series like other goalies have that have played against him. Maybe his time will come eventually but he is definitely getting you to the playoffs.

Georgiev, is a promising goalie just like Andersen was at the time he was extended by the Leafs. Georgiev has less of a track record but his numbers seem good so far. His saves average on shots between 1-15 ft and 15-30 ft are better so there should be a bit of an overpay to acquire an asset that can produce those numbers regularly. The Leafs are terrible with defense close to the net so he'd be a slight upgrade compared to Andersen though it would not matter too much over an entire season when comparing the two. It would result in a couple extra wins (you'd hope your team would win enough to make it not make a difference).
