That doesn’t get you Malkin and Brodin. What’s the impetus for a division rival to take Seabrook off your hands because Turris is at least a functional player.

Pittsburgh would be morons not to take that that for Malkin!
Brodin - I would demand the ‘20 Pittsburgh 2nd instead of the 3rd.

Why do we need a $9.5M 3rd line center? smile

Malkin is still a stud, one of my personal favorite players in the entire NHL. I think Kirby Dach is a comparable player to Malkin, just Dach being a little less physical. I still see Dach and Malkin as elite Power Forwards in the NHL. Malkin is worth every single penny of that contract. Absolute stud. 1st line center on most teams in the NHL.

Id rather have Seabrook for 4 years and the 2nd over Turris, atleast Seabs is a vocal leader and if he isnt playing well, hes going on LTIR

Malkin is still an elite C 2 bottom 6 forwards and 2 late teens 1st isn’t getting it done.

What exactly do you think Strome’s value is? He has reportedly been available to anybody willing to give up a 2nd, so you really think Brodin is worth just a 2nd and 3rd?

He's obviously a very good player and future HOFer because his offense is HOF caliber for sure. No questions...1st ballot HOFer.

I don't think he fits this team at all. He doesn't play defense....like at all...period. Right, Wrong, or indifferent...He's simply never been asked to do it. You can't be good at something you never do. He gets more OZONE starts than Kane. He has ~220 career PK minutes and ~176 of that was in his 1st 3 years....so average 4 minutes on the PK per year. Probably the rare OZONE pk start too. Dach's had more PK time in the last week than Malkin's had in the last 2 years. True story. We can spend $9.5M in better ways...and still not lose multiple 1st rounders.

What drives me bananas about Malkin is when people say he's "underrated". MANY "hockey experts" have Malkin on Russia's "Mount Rushmore" of hockey players. That's insane to me, but back to the point. It's technically not....literally impossible, but sooo darn close that I'll use it anyway... It's literally impossible to be underrated if you're on Russia's Mount Rushmore....AND some think he's literally the best Russian player ever...crazy! I can blink and say Federov, Ovi, Datsyuk, Zubov...done.

Picking up Malkin at age 34 with a $9.5M cap hit for 2 more years would not be wise IMO. Much better off, if this is the strategy, to not give up assets and sign someone like Hoffman to a $7M x 4 year deal at his age of 34. He's not Malkin but he's 4 years younger and would cost $2.5M and you wouldn't give up all those assets.

Pittsburgh’s Cup window is now closed, period. They should salvage old players for young pieces and parts. I know they will never trade Crosby, but Malkin and Letang should get moved asap to start the rebuilding process.

I don’t know enough about Strome to truly evaluate that trade, but I have watched Brodin play 500ish NHL games, about half of them in person, and he is simply an incredible hockey player!

I'm thinking our window is more short term than that. malikin for 2 years would be perfect. His cap comes off the same year Kubalik (assuming 2 year deal), Dach and Boqvist need extensions. If you sign a guy like Hoffman for 4 years that extends out past Toews and Kane's contracts even. If we were to go the expensive UFA route I would prefer Hall or Krug over Hoffman

I like the pens deal, but would rather have Strome included instead of Shaw. With that swap, I'd take that deal.

That’s just bad value for Malkin, beside Pittsburgh has already said that they aren’t going to rebuild.

If you love Brodin, then you don’t want Strome. Imo he is a bottom 6 guy that needs superior line mates to produce, and his skating is what I would call ok.
