This one is a laugher. EDM has already ****ed up one straight up forward-for-defenseman trade in recent memory... I can't imagine they'd be looking to repeat that again.

I like how you made it the 19-20 season so it looks like Hamilton has double the term. Oilers pass on this in an instant. Draisaitl is on a sweet heart contract and is half of Edmonton’s offense. It would be much easier to find serviceable RD than to replace Draisaitl.

The guy who probably wouldve won the Norris if he didnt get hurt isnt just a "serviceable RD" hes one of the BEST defensemen in the league

I don't think RD is the problem in Edmonton. Let them develop. As good as Dougie is he is not the best Dman in the league, That would be Hedman then Josi. Also he doesnt return a top 5 center in the league, especially with only 1 year of term.

Did I ever say Hamilton was just serviceable? No, I said keep Draisaitl and just get a serviceable RD which would be a better outcome than Dougie + FA center.

Funny guy. Hedman is by far the bes Dman in the league. Dougie needs to prove he can be this good fore more than 1 season before he is in the running

Caroliner will run away ,but never ever Edmonton over this.He is minimum the 3t best Forward in the NHL .This year the best and has a cheap contract.The only player who has more value plays in Edmonton.

Carolina's strength is their blueline. Why subtract from what makes them a contender to add Draisaitl when you already have to pay guys like Svechnikov? Speaking of the Canes forward core, where does he play? He's not breaking the SAT line up, analytically it's the best in the league. 2C? We just got Trocheck for that, and we have Necas 2RW. We can pick up a 2LW for FAR less than this.

For Edmonton, it's the opposite. Their offence is what makes them scary. Draisaitl and McDavid are the Oilers, without them there's not a lot here. Dougie will help a lot from the backend, but with guys like Nurse and Klefbom, does the D core allow for another offensively based defender?

If it wasn’t a straight offense for defense trade? Add Trocheck on the Carolina side. Larsson/ Russell on the Edmonton side. A downgrade in your position of strength, an upgrade in a weakness. Canes can add a prospect too.

Either way I don’t see Draisaitl ever being traded. Would love it to the Canes though.
