<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTBF81</b></div><div>Yeah I thought N. Foote was a good pick, and he seemed pretty good at the u20 wjc. I didnt think they'd trade him but I understand it, since he's 2-3 years from possibly being a high impact player for Tampa. C. Foote, on the other hand, should be ready to at least get 3rd pairing or sheltered minutes starting next year, as it will be his d+4 season. Even given that dmen usually take longer to develop, for a mid 1st round pick it's time to make the jump to the NHL, if he's going to with Tampa.</div></div>
Cooper historically has given young defensemen sheltered minutes. He likes to ease them into the big league, which can be a good thing, however with Sergachev it kinda slowed his development for a little bit. But now obviously Sergachev has emerged as a fantastic player.
That being said, Shattenkirk probably isn't coming back. He's earned a raise. I think Cooper should try playing Foote with Hedman. Why not learn from the best? Plus it lets us keep Mac and Drago (Cernak) together.
I'd like to see this blue line next year if Sergachev is gone:
Hedman - Foote
McDonagh - Cernak
Coburn - Rutta/Bogosian/Witkowski/Free Agent
If Sergachev stays, just scratch Coburn I guess? IDK
