Maybe a little but its rather fair. Stasny is trending downwards and $6.5M in flat cap league has its value. Montour-Tuch is a fair swap.

Maybe Krueger could use his great motivational skills to convince Stastny to waive.

I disagree about Tuch for Montour to be fair, simply because of Tuch's contract. Player level/value are basically the same, but Tuch's contract imo edges it for him.

If only these motivational skills could be seen on ice and BUF would stop sucking so bad...

Maybe. Didn't have the best season so you don't if consistency issues will be a factor and that matters in a contract that is this long term.

That was the point he was a horrible coach. The system sucks for the puck moving defenseman that they have. And he put Skinner with Curtis Lazar all year.

The motivation of going to a team that wants you, and the opportunity to play with a tremendous talent like Jack Eichel could work. Buffalo has other options but even at his age Stastny is such a nice fit. (Leadership, wins face offs, can play power play and penalty kill, and be a fine mentor to Cozens)

Yeah it would be perfect players have been waiving for Buffalo the past couple years.

The only thing I would change is giving two years to kahun instead of 3 so he is still a RFA after his deal...also I'm not sure Oloffson sign for this low but it would be a great contract for us.

I get that but Montour is an RFA, if Vegas can create the cap space they could sign him to a fair value deal for the same length or longer then Tuch's.
I get it makes some difference but considering that Vegas would control Montours rights and guys want to play in/for Vegas I'm not sure it's enough that Buffalo would need to add as much as a 2nd if anything at all.

Not saying they'd need to add a 2nd, obviously. In that post of mine I added a replacement D-man and a 5th going their way.

Imo a 3rd or prospect equivalent to that should do.

Naturally in the case of this trade the contract Montour would get will not give any more value for him, because the contract would be signed only after the trade. He'd become much more valuable only after the trade.

While neither made a huge impact both Simmonds and Frolík waived to go to Buffalo this season. And Jeff Skinner waived his no trade clause because he wanted to go to Buffalo.

It would be 1 year at worst for Stastny and with linemates like Tuch and Skinner he should post decent numbers heading into UFA. I like the trade, both teams get what they need. Montour's contract should be in the range or a smidget more then Tuch's.

That is the premise of the post, trade with a team that is desperate.
I hope Adams does that just as Botterill was able to get Skinner and Miller for seconds and Montour for a late first.

See above, if this trade is made in October because Adams was patient one never knows what a desperate GM will do to get under the cap max just before the season starts.
I said this before in July of 2014 Murray signed Moulson, Gionta and Meszaros to get to the cap. Then 3 months later the Islanders got Leddy and Simpson for Ville Pokka, Anders Nilsson and T.J. Brennan.
Maybe if Murray was patient and smarter (well those are not the case) he could have had Leddy for nothing as well.
