Description
If the penguins would lose and win the lottery*
Not sure if Duclair would re-sign with senators. Would be a great winger beside McCann and Poulin. Saw reports of Senators taking offers for 5th overall. Two top 6 wingers with salary retained, a franchise goalie, with 2020 3rd & 2021 sounds like the Penguins are giving up a lot but you're getting younger and saving money.

If you are going to make a homer roster with that terrible sens trade do it from your main account and don’t make a new one to just post this

Embarrassingly bad offer for Ottawa. Also "two top 6 forwards and a franchise goalie"??? What are you talking about?

I don’t think the pens have one legit realistic asset they would trade that could ever get the sens to move off from that pick.

Guentzel as the starting point of a package might be the only thing

In what world is Patrick Hornqvist still a top 6 player and Simon ever a top 6 player. Also Murray looking like a 1B gaolie at this point. If you wanted the trade to look like your description then the players on Pittsburgh's end would have been Guentzel 1.5 retained, Rust and Jarry. That probably would get the value equal on this deal

I think we can all agree that the Ottawa trade is bad because of Murray’s bad season. But there was a point in time where Murray could’ve fetched a top 10 pick (look and Cory Schneider to NJD) and he can get back to that level. So yes the trade sucks, but everyone on here underrates Murray significantly. I still think he’ll be that franchise goalie for the Pens. Pens won’t sell low on him

Yeah there's no chance Ottawa trades it imo. Unless they're getting absolutely ridiculous value, they're better off just taking whoever they have 5th.

laugh That garbage doesn't get you the #5 pick, And if Pittsburgh got the #5 pick Detroit would just take Drysdale at #4 to piss them off.

Not that the Sens would make this terrible trade but if they did with Sid and Gino on the other side of 30 it'd be a real waste of that pick to use it on Drysdale, should draft a young center or winger for the future with that pick.

Detroit passes. I don't see Detroit bringing in another bottom 6 forward they have several and 3 of the are on un-moveable contracts. From Detroit's pov Bjugstad looks like a cap dump either way I just can't see Yzerman making this trade.

And **** themselves in the process with a dumb pick and leaving Pittsburgh with the better options, yeah Detroit would really be showing them.. Lol

Nobody in the NHL would trade an elite winger for a pick they have no idea what he will turn out to be. A beast goalie who is 26 years old, won 2 stanley cups, who is coming off a rough year will still get a 1st round pick. A winger who put up 32 points in 52 games on a THIRD line plus the goalie will get you a solid pick. not to mention a 3rd, 2nd, and another winger who scores 30+ points a season on a small contract. Thank god you're not your teams GM lmao.

Oh for sure there is no fair or good deal for a top pick it’s a Kings ransom or pound sand, rebuilding teams aren’t moving top 5 picks for a collection of stuff

Sure, 23 year old Matt Murray could have fetched a top ten pick (probably not a top 5 pick imo). Problem is, that was 3 years ago, and in the three years since then he has been a pretty unremarkable .909sv% over that time, and is coming off an absolutely abysmal season.

When it comes to goalies, I think you have to have a "what have you done for me lately" mentality, and what he is now, does not inspire any faith.

I think Pens fans should brace themselves for the possibility of an underwhelming return for Murray, based on what has been suggested on AGMs.

You’re not living in reality, it’s what the sens would need to move away from their rebuilding plans. You want the pick, the sens don’t want to move it so you have to make it worth their wild as rebuilding team. Beast goalie? We all have eyes, he stunk last year and if he was a beast you wouldn’t be trading him

You’re sad trade isn’t going to do it. Nhl teams are not in the business of giving away Franchise level dman with that pick

Duclair kinda makes it off. I only threw him in there if he was forsure not re- signing. I know OTT is looking at deals for 5 and I know GMJR will not sell low on murray and this is what i thought would work.

Better get a hell of a lot more than pick 5 for one of the best wingers, and goalie in the league last season lmfao

on the flip side of that, if Pens go on another cup run with Murray in net (which is entirely possible), then his value skyrockets again. At the moment I agree Murray is definitely not fetching a top 5 pick. But, if he turns things around, which is entirely possible, his value would skyrocket. That is exactly why Rutherford would be foolish to trade Murray when his value is at an all time low. They still believe he is our guy.

Show the reports That sens want to take on a bunch of filler pieces for the 5th overall, or that the sens would love to take on 12m in cap space with this trade...do you know how the sens operate? No you don’t

Oh you can’t bc it’s not real and you’re a troll

Ahhhh yes. Starting goalie who is 26 with 2 cups, 2nd, 3rd line wingers plus a second and third round picks is just filler pieces. Maybe they could win more than 29 games with those guys next year wink
