If Dougie agreed to extend with Toronto on arrival I wouldnt mind that. Him and Rielly would easily keep the leafs 3rd or above in GF while reducing their GA.

RHD are more expensive than LHD... Toronto paid Carl Grundstrom, Sean Durzi and a first-round pick in the 2019 for a 30 year old Muzzlin. idk would you say Muzzlin is a top 30 Dman? why would a team take less for a more desirable player?

The hardest part to see from a non TOR fan is it generally just appears that TOR fans are A.) creating trades that are quantity vs quality trades and B.) over valuing their quantity pieces.

Lets use Andreas Johnsson as an example. The link below is AJ's ice time last year. 424 minutes with Auston Matthews and 135 minutes AWAY from Auston Matthews. I bring this up because in order to get the whopping .49 ppg that costs $3.4M dollars... you better have an Auston Matthews on your team AND play them together. I just don't see why TOR fans think he has value.

Here's the thing, those 3 pieces would never land you Nylander. Muzzin also has championship experience and is a fantastic all around Dman. I'm not saying Kapanen is enough for a top 4 RHD with term, just saying Nylander is too much

gotta remember the Johnsson + Matthews numbers were when Babcock was coach and he rarely put matthews out on the ice. When Keefe came Johnsson was hurt so Matthews was put with Hyman and Marner almost immediately which is why his numbers went up. While Johnsson barely played this season which is why his numbers went down. Put Johnsson with Tavares and Nylander and things could get interesting.

Bracco didn't get the call due to that fact he banged Kapanen now ex . That is why Kap missed early time due to personal reasons which later was released was relationship related. Then Bracco left the team for personal reasons when a trade was not made. E5

at the time, Toronto needed a LHD, Rielly, Gardiner, and Ozhiganov were not doing well and the Dcore was struggling. Muzzin next to Doughty was LA's best dman and through his season with both the maple leafs and kings had 37 points in 80 games. He provides size, leadership, and is gonna be a great mentor to Liligren one day so it was fine. In general he may be older, but he is still a very good defenseman who can play both sides of the ice well and if necessary deliver a big hit.

I don't disagree with you but Kings got a high end prospect imo and a 1st round pick for an aging dman. when I say aging don't mean declining just a guy who didn't have a lot of term and isn't a guy they are building with moving forward. Nylander has some value but I don't think its anything too crazy. a solid RHD should cost Nylander as long as the contract ($$ and age) makes sense

I hear you 100% that they could make a nice combination! How many teams have a Taveras that they desire to put AJ next to? This is what I'm getting at. $3.4M for a player that NEEDS to be next to elite talent (#1 OA pick talent) shouldn't have a big contract. OR if he does have a big contract...shouldn't have their performance plummet when they're away from the elite talent.
