Zadorov with Rielly

Créé par: Trickster

Description
I really feel Zadorov could be a good fit here.
Forget about LD or RD, it's not nearly that important.

Buffalo has 4 FWs under contract and 4 RFAs.
I think that Johnsson makes some sense, Leafs need to shed salary.

Florida has 3 top6 FW UFAs, and yes they are cutting salary but you still players with ability to play, Kerfoot makes some sense and Leafs still need to shed more salary.

I mean, if we want a tall dude who inst very good at defense to play beside rielly, the leafs could just sign Ceci for less than Zadorov makes and not give up picks.

I'd prefer picks before 2022, but a 2nd + 3rd meets the ask for Zadorov so sure why not

I like Zadorov but i feel hes not the defenseman we need. Sure a guy who can lay out big hits is fine but we got Muzzin for that and he takes to many penalties. I would say a guy like Savard is our best option. He is good at both ends which are good qualities in partnering with rielly.

I agree with you that handedness is overrated, but I really don't think Zadorov is the guy.

My problem with Savard is the term remaining on him and the cost of acquiring him , what would a new deal for him be anyway?

Care to elaborate on why?
He is a big rugged defense first guy.

I'd say an offer on Kerfoot from Buffalo is Middlestat and 2nd rounder.

hes the type of guy u can get a cheap extension out of. 4.5m for 4 years would be fine. Allows for Liligren to develop and Rielly to do his thing. Leafs could manage it as seattle is coming and they can take johnsson or something

i mean, you can disagree all you want but it's actually pretty easy to argue that Ceci is even better defensively (not by much mind you) than Zadorov. He has a better xGA, xCF%, a better expected goal share, better shots against and he faced tougher comp last season.

His defensive ability is pretty overstated, imo. And sure, he's big and throws hits, but he also takes a **** ton of penalties.

Most of Zadorov's penalties are simply for being big. It's been a point of frustration for Avs fans through the years. Small forward runs into Zadorov > small guy falls over > Zadorov called for roughing.

I think we can get a 2nd + 3rd package with one being in 2020 and 2021, instead of 2021 and 2022. If you at least change the 2022 pick to 2021 then I'd probably accept. Think another team would beat that though by offering a 2020 pick. Keep in mind that Colorado lack a 2020 2nd so that is going to be the primary desired return here.

Regardless, it hurts the team.

I agree but I'm not sure if we could get 2020 picks for him. I think a 2nd and 3rd both in 2021 seems like a reasonable ask. If a team offers 2020 picks then that's even better but I wouldn't hold out to get that kind of return

I agree. If nobody is offering a 2020 2nd and 2021 3rd (or vice versa) then I'd settle for both 2nd + 3rd in 2021. We're not a rebuilding team desperate for picks, so the value of the picks would be the priority rather than the timing of them.
