If the team fails completely in the playoffs, I think it would be time to make some acute changes to the team core, and start to think about the future of the team.

Logic behind the trades:

TOR trade - a blockbuster that fits to both teams' needs. DAL needs a young and skilled RW in Nylander, and they also lack RHD prospects and picks. TOR needs a cheap first pair RHD and a defensive center in Faksa, and they also get two future assets in Robertson and Honka.

FLA trade - FLA is in need of wingers if Hoffman and Dadonov walk, and their LHDs are also tad weak. In this way, Radulov and Oleksiak fit right to the team. However their owners have made clear that they need to save some money as well, so DAL agrees to take a subpar contract of Strålmans, with the addition of Saarela and two decent picks - which are assets DAL is lacking.

TB trade - Johns is about to hit free agency, so getting a good value him via trade should be done now. TBs are thin in RHDs but they're loaded with forwards. In a vacuum Johnson holds more value than Johns, but TB is also very much cap strapped, which probably makes them consider a swap as such as it fits to their needs pretty well and saves them close to $3M in cap.

EDM trade - basically a prospect swap. EDM receives a nice and big LW prospect that has a potential to become mid-to-top6 power forward, while DAL receives a good RW prospect who has lost his touch with EDM.

BUF trade - don't mind it. Just wanted that 7th rounder back lol.
