MTL don't really have a guy ready to replace Danault yet so moving him doesn't seem likely.

Montreal doesnt accept. No need to trade their number one C for that package.

But also, for Edmonton, why get ANOTHER Center.

You are already playing Drai or Nuge at LW,
AA is playing Wing even though he is a Center
and with this move, Haas is also being moved.

Bring in a winger, or am I wrong?? Genuinely curious.

lol honestly its almost not worth making a trade with MTL on CF. I'd rather look to get Faksa then Danault cheaper to acquire and cheaper to sign long term. Faksa can fill the defensive #3C with just with bit less offense

Having depth at center is always a good thing.. Danault, just like RNH would be too good to use in a #3C that's why he is playing wing and has looked pretty good there. But it also gives the Oilers a security blanket if there's an injury.

AA isn't a center his defensive positioning and faceoffs need work before he can move back there

You are probably not aware of Danault but he is probably the most underrated guy’s around the league.
He rank 31 in the league for 5 vs 5 point in the league. Ahead of Mitch Marner, Elias Pettersson, John Tavares, Kuznetzov, Barkov just to name these. He is near the top of the league in possession number corsi. He ranked at the top for faceoff, is ranked 2 in pass intercepted in defensive zone. Great penalty Killer.
The Habs would be looking for a Ryan O’reilly return non less. Is on ice value goes far beyond the scoresheet. Would cost at less on of Bouchard or Broberg, a first round pick, another prospect like Lavoie or Maksimov and a established young player.
(Yeah that would be conditional to a contract extension of course)

I find it funny you used the ROR return then listed a way better return. If you forgot ROR trade was 2 cap dumps, Tage Thompson, 2019 #31 OA and 2021 late 2nd round pick. Just Bouchard or Broberg is already worth more then that

First of all Sobotka wasn’t a cap dump at all, he was coming off a career high in goal and a second best point total. Patrick Berglund was still coming off a 23 goal and 17goal (57 games) season just before being include in that trade. So they weren’t cap dump like you seem to suggest. Both have been extremely disappointing bot at the time the trade was made that wasn’t the case. And if you gave a first round pick it could end up the 31st overall or the 3rd overall (Ott via SJ) or 4th overall (Col via OTT) so again at the moment of that trade Buffalo couldn’t know that information. And Bouchard or Broberg have the same value as Thompson had at the moment of that trade, which was a top prospect. Sure that trade today doesn’t look good but at that moment it was a bog Package that Buffalo received. The fact that everyplayers who end up in Buffalo seem to vanish is another story. So again Montreal would be looking at this kind of Package and the only Top Prospect that you have are Bouchard or Broberg so that would start with at least one of them. A players who was averaging 20 goal in the prior 2 season, another depth players and A first and a second round pick. This is what it would take.

Actually the pick had top 10 protection, and there's zero chance Tage Thompson has ever had value near Bouchard or Broberg if you believe that I don't even know what to say

The Edmonton Oilers need a 3C. That's just a fact that like 90% of Oilers fans agree with. I'm sorry if that hurts your feelings.

    How is it not helpful?

    They do need a 3C

If you’re objecting to rudeness you haven’t been the nicest to people in the past either.

Look at my Boston 31 in 31 AGM for an example
