Description
With seth jones and all the other injuries there's no way there trading savard unless it's a massive overpay. I dont think Marc bergivan hasnt given up on this team and isn't ready to sell just yet, so petrys out. Nick Jenson is always an option and he'll be really cheap, 3rd or 4th. Brodin is a option because Minnesota is selling anyways, wont be cheap tho.

The Wild are looking for Centers in return for their defenseman. So they would likely want something like Kerfoot + Dermott for Brodin + Later Pick.
The same for Dumba except the ask would be more (Kerfoot + Liljegren + High Pick for Dumba)

I would maybe do Kerfoot + for Brodin if Muzzin doesn't resign.

The rumored asking price in Minnesota for Brodin is the same as the Zucker deal. A 1st a top prospect and someone to fill in on the big club. I know Guerin really wants a top 6 center, but I think a package of Ceci, Liljegren and the 2021 #1 gets it done.

For Dumba I think the only thing the Wild would except is Nylander and I think Wild would be inclined to add in that trade.

Not sure why Savard was ever in, they have more points than the Leafs and the Leafs are not sellers.

Because the Leafs haven't won a Cup in forever, so why wouldn't the Jackets ignore the fact they've never won a Cup themselves and help the Leafs out?

I don't think the Leafs want to move Nylander. He has been a really really solid player for the Leafs this year and Dumba has taken a step back from a year prior.
If this was last year's Nylander for last year's Dumba (before the injury), I would happily do the deal.

I would probably want Brodin over Dumba anyway. Gives the Leafs the option to trade a LHD for a RHD. Maybe a Reilly+ for Seth Jones or a Dermott for TVR+ kinda deal

      Have the D be
      Brodin-New Top Pair RHD

I agree I don't think the Leafs would trade Nylander but I don't think the Wild would move Dumba without him. So I don't think Toronto and Minnesota will end up being trade partners for Dumba. I also think Brodin is a better fit for Leafs needs.

We do need a defensive D. I really like Brodin. Asking price seems to be pretty high from Bill, but with Engvall taking over on the 3rd line I think Kerfoot is a bit expendable.
What do you figure the + would need to be on Kerfoot for Brodin? (I know Bill wants a Top 6 C, but Kerfoot can be serviceable at 2C, but is more of a middle 6 guy)

Just a thought, but Savard was a piece to move for a TOP6 C, which is a position they're weaker in than the defense currently.

Ofc Jones' injury changes the situation.

I just don't think Guerin would make that deal. Unless the scouting department said he is a top 6 guy.
Wild owner is still not buying a rebuild so the only thing Guerin can do is wait for another team to pay his price, and since most of the players on the Wild have term he can sit and wait.

Because they have the lowest goals for in the top 25 teams in the league (5 of the bottom 6 have less goals for).

They need scoring. The Leafs have the ability to trade from a position of strength. Their at least theoretically could have been a hockey deal to be made instead of a traditional buyers and sellers

Defense wins championships, Toronto has top 5 goals for in the last 2 years. Hows that working. Blue jackets had more gf than Blues last year.

Kerfoot and a pick. Kerfoot is more of a mid-6 C I know, but they'd most likely get a pick as well which is also something they are in dire need of.

Sorry I dont see Kerfoot as a 2nd line center, 3rd yes. Build from the back end out is most important, look at my Oilers and the disaster we have been.

Probably, but in a team like CBJ Kerfoot would probably be slotted as 2C.

I didn't say it was likely. I was just saying if there was any reason that was it
