It’ll take a lot on COL side to pry Connor to a division rival. He also is a perennial 30 goal scorer that commit long term to a city that doesn’t attract a lot of players.

You’d have to blow chevys socks off to even get him to consider.

COL would have to give up byram++ and they wouldn’t want to pay that price for a winger, they already have good scoring depth

I know but what did I say about the trade, its not 1 for 1 so dont flood the comments with thats not enough value.

The jets would be going into a soft rebuild with the move, thats the message behind the train, and is that the smart thing for them to do

I mean tbh, the more I think about it as a jets fan I could see something like this. However, the only way they would do it is if they think he will have a Makar type impact

While I think Byram for Connor is somewhat close in value, he’s not the player Chevy should be targeting. Our best prospects are LHD, with Heinola and Samberg are more than likely to be ready next year.

I don’t want to trade Connor, but if we had to it would be for a young top-4 RHD with term.

Its an interesting thought, Connor is a guy that Avs would considering building a package with Byram to get. But for a jets side it would put them in a soft rebuild bc they wont really see full impact of the guys for a couple seasons, is that something they would be willing to do

interesting, never really considered the Heinola and Samberg LHD side of things. But do they have the same ceiling as Byram, probably not. RHD is hard to come by and I think with that much value to the position, only real way to get a good young one with Term is draft them

Can you post the link in the comments section please, they don't seem to work for me when they're up in the description box.

This makes no sense at all, like if the Jets are gonna do a soft rebuild they should be trading Wheeler and even consider trading Scheiffele cause Wheeler is old and they might be able to move him now before his contract turns into an albatross and Scheifele isn't young anymore, the Jets window to go for it is during his current contract cause once Scheiffele is a UFA the Jets are either signing him to a contract that'll look ugly almost as soon as the ink is dry or they're trading him at his UFA TDL year to recoup some assets.

This is probably just rumors and click bait stuff but who knows.

Even moving Zadorov back to his natural side, that left side doesn't look that deep to me that you guys can afford to give Byram up, especially if you consider what is likely to be required to acquire Connor.

its all depends how much they believe in Graves but I agree it gets weaker. This sort of move is Avs want to win the cup in the next 2 seasons type of thing, so as long as its mission accomplished the long term weakness you created on the LHS is justified.

We don’t need Heinola and Samberg to have ceilings similar to Byram since we already have Morrissey as our 1LHD, who is a top pairing defenseman. They only have to be top-4 calibre players for us. For the RHD, it’s true that they’re really rare, but maybe someone like the Canes would entertain the idea of a Connor for Pesce base (offseason of course). But you’re right, there isn’t many options out there since teams want to keep those players.

Agreed. Plus LhD is easier to find than RhD.

it was just recently reported that the value for Alec Martinez is a 2nd and prospect, can grab another LHD with a little term left pretty cheap to fill in the 2nd/3rd pairing
LHD in the mid to late 20s are not that hard to pick up

Depending on how much COL would have to add I like this deal. With Graves, Girard, and Zadorov we aren't desperate for a top pair LHD anymore and I love Kyle Connor (and his contract). I bet WPG would ask for Byram + at least a 1st, especially since its an intradivision trade. I wouldn't be opposed to a Connor for Byram + 2020 1st deal

someone just forwarded me an expanded piece he wrote int he paper.
Same guy mentions that Byram is the guy most linked in Connor talks along with "a couple other smaller pieces".

I wonder if those smaller pieces are Jost and a non 1st round pick?

I would do that as well. The Avs could afford to give up Byram + Jost + 2nd. I just hope Timmins is left out of it. I could see WPG being interested in him as a righty

cant see any world they move both top D prospects. If they do its a bigger mega deal than just Connor, they are getting D back too.

But if this dude has any sort of credit and his linked Byram and small pieces for Connor turn out to be that. Thats a pretty solid deal.
Wouldnt shock me to see Sakic flip Compher for a Dman the following season type of thing

Really think the defense issue is getting overblown, like it's not gonna be any easier to replace Connor if he was traded and there's plenty of solid D prospects in the system, I'd need to be blown out of the water with an offer to trade any of Connor, Laine or Ehlers and I'm seeing Roslovic slowly turning into a Wheeler replacement.
I really hope Chevy doesn't make a stupid panic trade.

unless its a management type decision of ok cut some salary, get the cap commitments down for a couple seasons and reset type of logic
but I agree I think the Jets arent in bad shape, they can reshuffle without a blockbuster
