Description
At this point tanking for #1 draft pick Alexis Lafreniere is the best chance at a turn around! Then get rid of some salary with trades and let Jumbo and Marleau walk .. the game has moved on. It’s fast and they’re old and slow. Time to walk away, we gave them 15+ years of Playoffs in San Jose and they didn’t get it done! The point is to get a little younger and quicker with a fast turn around. The Sharks have solid young guys still on their roster and pipeline. Just time to make the right moves NOW!

These trades are all terrible and insanely unrealistic. Not even remotely close. Im guessing it's a joke.

Actually these trades are not at all “Unrealistic” like you’re claiming.. Vlasic is a top shut down D man and anyone with the cap space would pay 2nd round and a 3rd/4th for him! EASILY! You’re high af if you can’t see that. Now for Jones.. with retaining some salary around the 30% mark will create some buzz for a few teams out there.. enough to pay a 2nd and 3rd rounder for. Nothing ridiculous there. Labanc is a 24yr old RFA guy with lots of upside who had 40 points 2 years ago and 56 points last season. On pace for ~45-50 points this year as well! Easily can grab a first rounder from the right team for a guy like that. You’ve obviously been oblivious to the deals that have been made across the league in the last few years !

Uh, I'm opposed to this trade, I think that was quite clear or are you blind.

Yeah I can read. I personally think the value OP is bringing is pretty good.

I fail to see how someone that's opposed to these trades is over-valuing SJ. I am opposed because the OP has clearly over-valued them. I don't think your reading comprehension is very good. Sorry just an observation.

Based on the comments here I was under impression that you were opposed to these moves because they don't bring SJ enough value back. Not a single post of yours tells why you're against these moves.

Vlasic was one of the best shutdown defenseman in the league a few years ago. He is now declining and has SEVEN years left on his contract @7 mill per taking him to his age 40 season. No one is giving up assets for that contract.

Labanc isn’t getting you that 1st rd pick. That pick has a decent shot of being one of lafreniere, byfield, holtz , Or Raymond and ill take one of them over Labanc any day.

San Jose will tank in the worst kind of way, with contracts that will be hard to move and without their lottery pick for the first year. Vlasics contract will need to include assets to move, you wont be getting assets back for him, Burns, Karlsson are the ones they should be trying to sell off this summer at the draft for good hauls but see if they accept thier future or not at that time.

The thing with the Sharks is most their players have either a NMC (i.e. Vlasic & Karlsson) or a 3 team trade list (Couture, Kane, Jones, Burns)

The problem with Vlasic is his contract and his performance has been gradually declining. Sharks would have to retain a % of his salary for them to even consider this trade because they already have the contracts of Price, Alzner and Weber.

As for the Labanc trade, do you think Joe Sakic would've traded OTT's 2019 1st round pick for Kevin Labanc+? The only 1st round pick you can get in a Labanc trade is from a contender.

I'm thinking there are very few packages the sens would move that 1st for. You just need to hope it won't win top 3 in the lottery. That's all you have now

I think if the Sharks were willing to retain around 2 million/year, they could get some very nice offers for Vlasic. I'm of the belief that when he is on his game, he's easily worth 7 million (length is a problem if you think he is going to decline).

Jones just can't be traded. Too much risk either way. If Jones is just a terrible goaltender, then any team acquiring him will look very foolish even if the Sharks retain half his salary. If Jones is fine and the problem was the system, then the Sharks look stupid trading a starting goaltender for scraps.
