NJ fans really need to temper expectations on Hall. He probably won't agree to an extension based on all the comments he's been making. And even if he did you're looking at the price paid in the Stone trade as a comparable (Blue chip prospect, 2nd rounder, throw in player).

Van doesn't downgrade their goaltending for a 7th when they're trying to make the playoffs

Edmonton can’t afford Simmons. And probably wouldn’t want him even if they could.

Colorado Declines, they wouldn't trade there best prospect and there future. Markstrom has been really good for the Canucks and they would not trade him especially for Corey, Vancouver declines. Edmonton doesn't have salary so they decline.

Regardless of where Simmonds goes, the Devils will be retaining salary.

Devils will NOT be trading Schneider. There's no demand and the Devils have no immediate need to free up cap space.

As much as ALL Devs fans wold love that haul for Hall we are much more realistic!
This is not realistic!
Do I think Shero can/should get Byram in a Hall (signed/agree to sign) package, yes I do.
Do I like the idea of Zads to NJ, yes I do.
Do I think a first comes to NJ in any of these scenarios, no I do not!

Cory S.: why dos OP think we can get him moved fro that pkg.? We can't
I see him as piece going to Seattle to get to the floor with and add from us to pick CS.

Simmons gets moved for something similar if NJ is out but not Edm.

Any picks going out for anyone, should be lower than anything NJ has at that date

How can simmonds who was traded for hartman and a fourth round pick would be worth a second and a third this year?
Markstrom alone would cost new jersey, so if the canuck take back schneider contract that will cost new jersey at least s first round pick and a prospect

If I were the Avalanche, I would consider Bowen Byram untouchable. He's projected to be the left-handed version of Makar, basically. I think Colorado could find a way to make this deal even without his inclusion, and perhaps the inclusion of everything else, minus Hall, the Devils would be giving up here, maybe Jost, Newhook, Bowers, a 1st for Hall with an extension.

He's signed for 5 million this season- I am not exactly sure on how the cap situation works, but the devils play 61 games before the trade deadline. Assuming his 5 million salary is divided by the 82 game schedule, the team taking his contract on should only have roughly 1.34 million to pay. Again, this is probably an over-simplification of how it works, but I don't think that's a large price to pay for a contending team to squeeze into the cap.

From a Devils fan's perspective, McLeod has been a bust. He was taken 12th overall a few years ago. At best, he projects to be a 3rd line, 30 point player who can play in most situations. Mirco is an AHL D on an average defensive team.

exactly why its a homer trade, Devils get 2 legit NHLers, a D prospect that projects to be a top pairing guy and a 1st for Hall with some busts?
Devils fans are going to be in a world of hurt if they think they can even get half of that type of package when Mark Stone (who maybe would take over Hall bc he plays a complete game) is the trade precedent which is 2nd and a Top D Prospect.
