I highly doubt EDM would be willing to trade Bouchard

I’m pretty sure he is the last Dman in the system the Oilers would consider trading right now...and that is not necessarily about current abilities (of course Nurse and Klef are better NHL players right now), but as to longterm fit. The Oilers have needed a puck moving dman for years, and he is the best at that they have seen.

So this definitely makes little sense

I am legitimately offended by this trade on Edmonton’s behalf.

So Kap and a bunch of guys that will end up on waivers get you EDM's best d spec AND Pulju, ik Pulju doesn't have a ton of value, but still...

Actually not a bad deal for both sides not counting the 2 extra defensive warm bodies the Leafs included.

Oilers fans won't like it, obviously, because to them Bouchard has already won the Norris but their window is shrinking and they can't wait for a couple of maybes.

Why does everyone have to be a complete troll on this site?? As an Oilers fan, I am not offended. Edmonton makes a lot of sense for Kapanen from both sides. Toronto has to shed salary cap going forward and $3.2m is a lot for a 3RW. Kapanen would probably be a 1RW or 2RW on Edmonton though, sadly. Kapanen's speed and half-decent hands makes me think he could be McDavid's winger instead of Draisaitl.

JP might make sense for Toronto. He can certainly play with high-skill players, and has a great toolbox (shot, size, quick stick) and his stock is very low right now. He would naturally fit in on 3RW for a lot less than Kapanen. Probably sign him for around $1m or less.

But yeah, Bouchard is looking like the second coming of Paul Coffey for Oilers fans and coaching staff, so I doubt they would trade him at this point. He could be Edmonton's coveted top-pairing RHD that every team craves, but only few get.

Still, I like the idea of the trade, but I don't think Bouchard would be coming to Toronto.

Window is closing? What window? Lol. They have 5 good players and a bunch of roster fillers with below average goaltending. Their window opens when they start dumping some of that crap and replacing it with Bouchard, Benson, Yamamoto, Broberg, Lavoie., Skinner, Rodrigue. The big 5 will be around for awhile. Adding 3 more stiffs and a 7th does not help them at all. Kap for Bouchard makes some sense for both teams. Don’t see EDM doing it. As bad as JP has been he is still worth more than 2 d men that would have to clear waivers to be sent down as they don’t make the roster, a 13th FW, and a 7th.

I love how he threw EDM that 7th rounder... ya know, to even it all out.

Ah...so keep doing what they've been doing for the last decade. Right on.
The sad part, Petan is better than all but one of the guys you mentioned.

Lol, nope. He’s an AHL caliber player/roster filler. Nothing more.
