6 points in 7 games and he was a -3. Plus minus isn’t great but shows he either scored a ton of 5v4 points or was defensively subpar.

Kuzy had a terrible playoffs for the caps and he had the exact same point total as Matthews. I guess I hold players to a much higher standard when it comes to being good in the playoffs.

Games 6 an 7 Matthews scores 0 points and that’s when you would want a superstar to play his best. But again 5g in a 7 games series is good but when 0/5 are scored in series deciding games it hardly matters right?

Caps best players were Ovechkin and Backstrom in their series. They were -4 and -5 respectively the last 2 games and 2 points and 0 points respectively. So it’s okay to skew your dialogue about Matthews but say nothing about Ovechkin and Backstrom. For the record, I have never been a huge Matthews fan. I have traded him numerous times. Usually to the coyotes as he is a sacred son there. I just think he had a better series than, let say, Marner.
