Hall has the same agent as Marner…. will grease every penny they can get. If you think Hall signs for anything less then what Panarin signed for then I think your crazy

That's kinda the point of the previous one. Ferris milks two of his big fish at the same time. How happy would he be? Regardless, and as much as we know that Ferris is motivated by all the quid he can get, I kinda bet that Hall is more motivated to be on a competitive team rather than getting every nickle he can. He's been in tough his whole career. Kinda like the JT deal, coulda got 13M in SJ apparently, but took a "discount" to come to the leafs

Ferris shouldn't be representing him if that's the case. The only championship he would win is the swiss league title

I'd wager the Hall situation is way easier to handle for Ferris than Marner.

1) Hall is FA, he can just go to the highest bidder, Ferris can't really play any stupid games in that scenario and doesn't need too.
2) Marner is RFA, meaning the highest bidder needs to also be willing to give up 4 1st round picks, he also has to maneuver an evolving market that he has completely over estimated and he's vilified his client by making outrageous demands and playing all sorts of games to get his way.

In my opinion, Ferris is in big trouble with Marner, if I was Marner, I'd be feeling concerned that the offers on the table will only get worse. I feel this way for several reasons.

1) Everyone is waiting for him and Dubas is being patient knowing its highly unlikely no one will blink. Soon someone else is going to sign and solidify the market value for these RFAs.
2) If Point or Rantanan sign for long term and less than 10 million, in what reasonable universe does he think he is going to get more than them.
3) If those guys go long term, whats stopping Dubas from shaving money off his offers since the market has changed in his favour?
4) Marner really does want to be in TO and if he is unreasonable, come the start of the season, he will either be traded or sit for an entire year.

With those issues in mind, I think Ferris is in a tight spot with Marner (Which is why he's leaking info about playing in Europe, its what he did with the other guys he had AA and Anderson) and he's really hoping he can pressure Dubas into making a mistake. Dubas has been very firm and has made all the moves he needs to, to create space. Now its just a waiting game and Dubas has a great hand while Ferris is bluffing and everyone knows it.

I think he is motivated to have the highest paid players under his portfolio, that being said, they kind of go hand in hand

He's also a lot older. I would bet a fair bit of money by year 5 of a 7 year deal both halls and panarins contracts don't look so good

Maybe. But the dude is only 27 or something like that. It concerns and saddens me that 33 can be considered old

So Spurgeon at 7 million eh? @Trickster and I have been debating over the course of a few ACGM's here and there of Spurgeon's UFA value/contract he gets.
Trickster believes Spurgeon will get somewhere between 8-9 million while I think Spurgeon can be had between 7.5-8.5 million.

Hmm..you went lower than that. I see Josi and Spurgeon being similar D but Spurgeon being a UFA first may decide what Josi gets as he was a D people were making ACGM's about just a few months ago.

It isn't old in life. It is quite old for an NHLer.

An NHL forwards prime is about 24-29. By mid 30s almost everyone is declining and some quite considerably

Josi is going to get more than Spurgeon. Spurgeon is one of those quietly underrated guys. Josi is considered an annual Norris threat. Josi will likely get 9+ million

This is good I like it but I see one issue.

The defence, this assumes both Liljergen and Sandin are ready to go. My thoughts on that is, one might be ready but both...
Idk. Think rather side on caution and think only one is.

I have high hopes for both these dudes long term.

Another issue, in getting 1 quality D man at 7+ million spreads the D thin. I like going after 2 guys with lesser salaries then 1 really good D.

What is the Marner trade btw?
Curious cat here.

Evolving Wild has Spurgeon at $7,002,861 x 5. If he performs the same this season and the cap goes up he might get a little more, but he's also a year older and that will have to be factored in too. $7M is certainly in the range.
